Setup and Installation

1. Remove Old Filter: Carefully remove the existing air filter from your furnace or A/C unit. Note the direction of the airflow arrow on the old filter.
2. Inspect Unit: Check the filter slot for any debris or obstructions.
3. Orient New Filter: Locate the airflow arrow on your new electrostatic filter. This arrow must point in the direction of the airflow, typically towards the furnace/air handler.
4. Insert Filter: Slide the new filter into the designated slot. Ensure it fits snugly without forcing it. If the fit is tight due to screw heads within the frame, slight adjustment of the filter frame may be necessary.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the electrostatic air filter operates automatically with your HVAC system. No electrical connections or modifications to your furnace are required. The air flow from your home ventilation system charges the filter media, drawing airborne particles into it.

For optimal performance, ensure your HVAC system is running as per its normal schedule. The filter continuously works to improve air quality by capturing dust, pollen, pet dander, and other airborne irritants.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and longevity of your electrostatic air filter. It is recommended to clean the filter every 4 to 6 weeks, or more frequently depending on the dust levels in your home.

1. Removal: Turn off your furnace or A/C unit. Carefully remove the filter from its slot.
2. Initial Dust Removal: Use a vacuum cleaner to remove loose dust and debris from the filter surface.
3. Rinsing: Rinse the filter thoroughly with water. Always rinse in the opposite direction of the airflow that the filter was installed. This helps to dislodge trapped particles.
4. Deep Cleaning (Optional): For stubborn dust or contaminants, a light cleaner such as dish soap or laundry soap can be used. Apply the soap, gently scrub if necessary, and then rinse the filter very well to remove all soap residue.
5. Drying: Allow the filter to dry completely before reinstallation. Do not leave the filter in direct sunlight or high heat situations for extended periods, as this may affect its integrity.
6. Reinstallation: Once dry, reinstall the filter, ensuring the airflow arrow points in the correct direction.
