Safety Information
Your Hound Heater is constructed with safety in mind. Adhere to the following guidelines to prevent injury or damage:
- The unit features a heavy-duty, chew-resistant cord to protect against pet damage.
- Rounded corners are incorporated into the design for enhanced safety.
- An internal heat shield protects all internal wires and components from overheating.
- Ensure the unit is plugged into a standard 110V outlet.
- Do not cover the heater with blankets or other materials, as this can impede airflow and create a fire hazard.
- Regularly inspect the unit and cord for any signs of damage. Discontinue use if damage is observed.
Setup and Installation
The Hound Heater is designed for quick and easy installation. Follow these steps:
- Choose a Location: Select a suitable location within the pet house, typically on a wall, ensuring adequate clearance from bedding and other flammable materials.
- Mark Mounting Points: Position the heater and mark the four pre-drilled mounting holes on the pet house wall.
- Secure the Unit: Use four screws or bolts (not included) to securely fasten the heater to the wall. Ensure the thermostat is oriented towards the ceiling for optimal temperature sensing.
- Route the Cord: The electrical cord exits straight out of the back of the unit. Route the cord safely out of the pet house, ensuring it is not accessible for chewing. Consider using PVC conduit for added protection if the cord is exposed.
- Power Connection: Plug the 10-foot cord into a standard 110V electrical outlet.

Operation
The Hound Heater features a thermostat control for precise temperature management within your pet's house. The unit operates only when needed, ensuring energy efficiency.
- Adjusting Temperature: Locate the thermostat dial on the unit. It typically has settings for OFF, LOW, MED, and HIGH. Turn the dial to your desired heat level.
- Thermostat Range: The thermostat allows for accurate control of the heat, typically maintaining temperatures between 40°F and 50°F (4.4°C and 10°C) within the pet house, depending on the setting and external conditions.
- Automatic Operation: The unit will automatically turn on and off to maintain the set temperature, providing consistent warmth without continuous operation.

- Cord Inspection: Regularly check the chew-resistant cord for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. If the cord is damaged, discontinue use and contact customer support.
- Internal Heat Shield: The internal heat shield is designed to protect components. Do not attempt to open the unit or tamper with internal parts.

Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Hound Heater, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Heater not turning on | No power, thermostat set to OFF, unit malfunction. | Check power outlet. Ensure thermostat is set to LOW, MED, or HIGH. If issues persist, contact customer support. |
| Insufficient heat | Thermostat set too low, pet house too large, poor insulation, extreme external temperatures. | Increase thermostat setting. Ensure pet house is adequately insulated and sealed. Consider additional insulation for very large or uninsulated shelters. |
| Unit making unusual noises | Fan obstruction, loose components. | Unplug the unit and carefully check the fan grate for obstructions. Do not attempt internal repairs. Contact customer support. |
