Setup

1. Inserting the SIM Card

The Nokia 106 uses a Mini SIM card. Ensure your SIM card is compatible with GSM 850/1900 MHz networks.

  1. Turn off the phone and remove the back cover by gently prying it from the bottom notch.
  2. Remove the battery if it is already inserted.
  3. Locate the SIM card slot. Insert the Mini SIM card with the gold contacts facing down and the cut corner aligned with the slot.
  4. Ensure the SIM card is securely in place.

2. Inserting the Battery

  1. Align the battery contacts with the contacts in the battery compartment.
  2. Gently press the battery into place.
  3. Replace the back cover, ensuring it clicks securely into position.

3. Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the battery.

  1. Connect the Nokia charger to a power outlet.
  2. Plug the charger connector into the charging port at the bottom of the phone.
  3. The battery indicator on the screen will show charging progress.
  4. Once fully charged, disconnect the charger.

4. Powering On/Off

  • To power on: Press and hold the End key (red key) until the Nokia logo appears.
  • To power off: Press and hold the End key until the phone shuts down.

Operating Instructions

Basic Navigation

  • Navigation Key: Use the 4-way navigation key (up, down, left, right) to scroll through menus and options. The center key selects an item.
  • Call Key: Press to make a call or answer an incoming call.
  • End Key: Press to end a call, reject an incoming call, or return to the idle screen. Press and hold to power on/off.
  • Soft Keys: The two keys directly below the screen perform functions indicated by the text above them (e.g., "Menu", "Select", "Back").

Making and Receiving Calls

  • To make a call: Enter the phone number using the keypad and press the Call key.
  • To answer a call: Press the Call key when the phone rings.
  • To end a call: Press the End key.

Sending and Receiving SMS Messages

  • Go to Menu > Messaging > Create message.
  • Type your message using the keypad.
  • Enter the recipient's phone number or select from contacts.
  • Press Send.
  • Received messages can be viewed in the Inbox.

FM Radio

To use the FM radio, you must connect a compatible headset (included in the package) to the 3.5mm audio jack, as it acts as the antenna.

  • Go to Menu > Radio.
  • The phone will automatically search for available stations.
  • Use the navigation keys to tune to different stations or adjust volume.

Flashlight (LED Torch)

To quickly activate the flashlight, press the Up navigation key on the idle screen.

  • Press the Up navigation key once to turn the flashlight on.
  • Press it again to turn the flashlight off.

Phonebook

The phonebook can store up to 500 entries.

  • Go to Menu > Contacts.
  • Select Add new to save a new contact.
  • Enter the name and phone number, then save.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the phone's surface. Avoid using liquids or abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid overcharging and fully discharging the battery frequently. Store the phone in a cool, dry place.
  • Keypad: The dust and splash-proof keymat is designed for durability. Keep it free from debris for optimal performance.

Troubleshooting
