Setup
Before operating your BLACK+DECKER 3-in-1 tool, ensure all components are properly assembled and secured. An extension cord (not included) is required for operation.
- Attach Auxiliary Handle: Secure the auxiliary handle to the trimmer shaft for comfortable two-hand operation.
- Install Guard: Attach the guard to the trimmer head to protect against debris.
- Insert Spool: Ensure the AF-100 spool is correctly installed in the trimmer head.

Operating Instructions
The BLACK+DECKER MTE912 offers three distinct operating modes: lawn mowing, string trimming, and edging.
Lawn Mowing Mode
Attach the trimmer to the mower deck. Push the unit across your lawn in overlapping passes, similar to a traditional lawn mower. The wheels on the deck ensure an even cut.

String Trimming Mode
Detach the trimmer from the mower deck. Hold the trimmer comfortably and use a sweeping motion to cut grass and weeds around obstacles, fences, and garden beds. The AFS AUTOMATIC FEED SPOOL will automatically feed new line as needed.

Edging Mode
For precise edging along sidewalks and driveways, rotate the trimmer head 90 degrees. The built-in guide wheel helps maintain a consistent cutting depth for clean edges.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your BLACK+DECKER MTE912.
- Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the power cord and clean the tool. Remove any grass clippings, dirt, or debris from the trimmer head, guard, and mower deck. Use a damp cloth; do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
