This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your Philips Viva Collection HD9230 Digital Airfryer Oven. Please read these instructions carefully before first use and retain them for future reference. The Philips HD9230 Airfryer utilizes Rapid Air Technology to cook food with little to no oil, offering a healthier alternative to traditional frying methods.
Important Safety Information
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
- Read all instructions before use.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
- Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'off', then remove plug from wall outlet.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
- Ensure the basket is properly inserted before operating.
Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the Airfryer and all its components from the packaging. Retain packaging materials for future transport or storage if needed.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, clean the basket and pan thoroughly with hot water, dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. Wipe the inside and outside of the appliance with a damp cloth. Ensure all parts are completely dry before assembly.
- Placement: Place the Airfryer on a stable, horizontal, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is at least 10 cm (4 inches) of free space at the back and sides, and 10 cm (4 inches) of free space above the appliance. Do not place the appliance against a wall or other appliances.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded wall outlet.

Operating Instructions
- Power On: Plug in the Airfryer. The display will illuminate. Press the power button (U) to turn the appliance on.
- Preheating (Optional): For best results, preheat the Airfryer for 3-5 minutes at the desired cooking temperature.
- Loading Food: Pull out the basket by the handle. Place food items into the basket. Do not overfill the basket to ensure even cooking.
- Setting Temperature and Time:
- Use the temperature button (thermometer icon) to select the temperature. Use the up and down arrows to adjust.
- Use the timer button (clock icon) to select the cooking time. Use the up and down arrows to adjust.
- Start Cooking: Press the play/pause button (play/pause icon) to start the cooking process. The fan and heating element will activate.
- Shaking/Tossing Food: For some foods, it is recommended to shake or toss the contents of the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning. To do this, pull out the basket, shake, and then reinsert it. The Airfryer will automatically resume cooking.
- Monitoring Progress: The digital display shows the remaining cooking time and current temperature.
- End of Cooking: When the cooking time has elapsed, the Airfryer will beep. Carefully pull out the basket and remove the cooked food.




Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning of your Airfryer ensures optimal performance and extends its lifespan. Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Basket and Pan: The removable basket and pan have a non-stick coating. Clean them with hot water, dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. Do not use metal kitchen utensils or abrasive cleaning materials, as this may damage the non-stick coating. Note: These parts are not dishwasher safe.
- Interior: Wipe the inside of the appliance with a damp cloth and mild liquid soap.
- Exterior: Clean the exterior of the Airfryer with a damp cloth.
- Heating Element: Use a cleaning brush to remove any food residue from the heating element.
- Ensure all parts are thoroughly dry before reassembling and storing the appliance.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Airfryer, consult the following common troubleshooting tips:
- Appliance does not turn on: Check if the power plug is correctly inserted into the wall socket. Ensure the basket is fully pushed into the appliance.
- Food is not cooked evenly: Do not overfill the basket. Shake or toss the food halfway through the cooking process. Adjust temperature or cooking time as needed.
- White smoke comes from the appliance: This is usually caused by grease from previous use or fatty ingredients. Ensure the pan and basket are clean. Remove excess oil from food before air frying.
- Fresh fries are not crispy: Ensure you are using the right type of potato for frying. Rinse potato sticks properly to remove starch. Add a little oil for crispier results.
