Installation Video Guide
This video demonstrates the installation process for Liberty Garden Wall Mount Hose Reels, including models 704, 705, 708, and 710. It covers both masonry and wood stud mounting methods.
Mounting on Masonry (Brick/Concrete)
For masonry walls, you will need (4) 5/16" x 2 1/2" masonry screws with anchor sleeves and (4) 5/16" washers, or (4) 5/16" x 2 1/2" concrete screws with (4) 5/16" washers. A 5/16" concrete drill bit (for anchors) or 1/4" concrete drill bit (for concrete screws) is also required.
- Position and Mark: Hold the hose reel against the brick wall at the desired height. Use a level to ensure it is straight. Mark the locations of the four suspension holes on the brick using a black marker. Do not drill into the mortar.
- Prepare Drill Bit: For masonry screws with anchor sleeves, compare the 5/16" concrete drill bit to the anchor sleeve and add masking tape to the drill bit to mark the desired pilot hole depth. For concrete screws, tape your depth on the 1/4" concrete drill bit.
- Drill Pilot Holes: Using a hammer drill, drill pilot holes at the marked locations.
- Insert Anchors (if applicable): If using anchor sleeves, slide each sleeve into its hole, tapping lightly with a hammer until the desired depth is reached.
- Secure Hose Reel: Align the hose reel's suspension holes over the anchors/pilot holes. Insert the masonry screws with washers (and lock washers/nuts if using anchor sleeves) and tighten securely with a 7/16" or 3/8" socket wrench.
Mounting on Wood Studs
For wood-studded walls, you will need (4) 5/16" x 2 1/2" wood screws and (4) 5/16" washers. A 1/4" wood drill bit is also required.
- Locate Studs: Use a stud finder to locate the wooden studs in your wall. The hose reel is designed to align with typical 16-inch wood stud spacing.
- Position and Mark: Hold the hose reel against the wall, ensuring the mounting holes align with the studs. Use a level to ensure it is straight. Mark the position of each suspension hole on the wall with a black marker.
- Drill Pilot Holes: Using a power drill, drill pilot holes 1/4" in diameter and 2 1/2" deep at the marked positions.
- Secure Hose Reel: Align the hose reel's suspension holes with the pilot holes. Attach the hose reel to the wall using the wood screws and washers, tightening securely with a socket wrench.
Attaching the Hose Reel to the Base (for Navigator models, if applicable)
If your model has a separate base and reel assembly (like the Navigator 710 shown in the video), follow these steps:
- Attach the hose reel to the base shelf by hanging the reel on the small slot located at the front of the base.
- Line up the holes in the hose reel with the base shelf and insert the long Allen bolts.
- Tighten the Allen bolts with the supplied Allen wrench. Pliers may be needed to hold and tighten the lock nuts.

Operating Instructions
Using your Liberty Garden 708 hose reel is straightforward:
- Connect Water Supply: Attach the included 5-foot leader hose to your outdoor water spigot and to the inlet connection on the hose reel. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.
- Attach Garden Hose: Connect your garden hose (not included) to the outlet connection on the hose reel.
- Unwinding the Hose: To unwind the hose, simply pull the hose away from the reel. The reel will rotate freely, allowing the hose to extend.
- Winding the Hose: To wind the hose back onto the reel, turn the crank handle clockwise. Guide the hose evenly across the reel to prevent tangling and ensure proper storage.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance will extend the life of your hose reel:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the hose reel with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the powder-coat finish.
- Lubrication: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to moving parts, such as the crank mechanism and any rotating joints, annually or as needed to ensure smooth operation.
- Winterization: Before freezing temperatures, disconnect the hose reel from the water supply and drain all water from the hose and reel. Store the hose reel indoors or cover it to protect it from harsh winter conditions.
- Inspect Connections: Regularly check all hose connections for wear, cracks, or leaks. Replace worn washers or fittings as necessary.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Water leaks from connections | Loose connections, worn washers, damaged hose/fittings | Tighten all connections. Replace worn rubber washers. Inspect hoses and fittings for damage and replace if necessary. |
| Hose does not wind smoothly | Hose tangled, reel mechanism dry, excessive hose length | Ensure hose is not tangled before winding. Apply silicone lubricant to the reel mechanism. Ensure hose length does not exceed the reel's capacity. |
| Reel is wobbly after installation | Loose mounting hardware, unstable mounting surface | Check and tighten all mounting screws. Verify the mounting surface is solid and secure. |
