- Brewing: As the water heats, pressure will build, forcing hot water through the coffee grounds and into the upper pot. Coffee will begin to emerge from the central column into the upper chamber.
- Monitor: Listen for a gurgling sound, which indicates that most of the water has passed through the grounds. Once the upper chamber is full of coffee, remove the espresso maker from the heat.
- Serve: Carefully pour the freshly brewed espresso into cups. The handle is designed to remain cool to the touch, but exercise caution.
