4. Setup
4.1. Power Supply
The SR-RK2 requires batteries for operation. Batteries are not included with the device.
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the device.
- Insert the required number of AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). The device also supports rechargeable Ni-MH batteries.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2. Loading Label Tape
The SR-RK2 uses King Jim PRO series label tapes, compatible with widths from 4mm to 18mm.
- Open the tape compartment cover on the top of the device.
- Insert the label tape cartridge firmly into the compartment, ensuring it clicks into place.
- Gently pull a small length of tape out from the tape exit slot.
- Close the tape compartment cover.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Powering On/Off
Press the ON/OFF button located on the bottom left of the keyboard to turn the device on or off.
5.2. Basic Label Creation
- Text Input: Use the QWERTY keyboard to type your desired text. The device supports alphanumeric characters and Japanese kana. Press the Shift key for uppercase letters or alternate characters.
- Character Conversion: Use the 変換スペース (Convert/Space) button to convert kana input to kanji or to insert a space.
- Font Selection: Press the フォント (Font) button to cycle through available font styles. The device offers three cute font types.
- Text Size: Press the 文字サイズ (Text Size) button to adjust the size of your text.
- Frames, Emoticons, and Illustrations:
- Press the えもじ (Emoji) button to access 149 types of emoticons.
- Press the 絵文字 (Illustration) button to access 7 types of illustrations.
- Press the フレーム (Frame) button to select from 39 types of decorative frames.
- Preview: Before printing, press the プレビュー (Preview) button to view how your label will appear on the screen. The screen displays 6 characters x 2 lines.
- Printing: Once satisfied with your label, press the プリント (Print) button to print.

5.3. Saving and Recalling Files
The device allows you to save frequently used text or phrases.
- After typing your text, press the ファイル (File) button.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to save your text to one of the available memory slots (up to 5 files).
- To recall a saved file, press the ファイル (File) button and select the desired file from the list.
6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning the Print Head
If print quality deteriorates, the print head may need cleaning.
- Turn off the device and remove the label tape cartridge.
- Gently wipe the print head with a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
- Allow the print head to dry completely before reinserting the tape and turning on the device.
6.2. Battery Replacement
Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the screen or when the device fails to power on.
- Turn off the device.
- Open the battery compartment and remove the old batteries.
- Insert new batteries, observing correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment.
7. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- Poor print quality: Clean the print head as described in Section 6.1. Ensure the label tape is correctly installed and not damaged.
- Tape jam: Turn off the device, open the tape compartment, and carefully remove any jammed tape. Ensure the tape is properly aligned when reinserting.
- Blank labels: Verify that the label tape is inserted correctly and that the print head is clean.
