Setup and Installation
Careful assembly is crucial for optimal performance. Follow these steps for proper installation:
- Unpacking and Component Identification: Unpack all components and verify against the packing list. Ensure the filter tank, pump, multi-port valve, hoses, and fittings are present.
- Base Assembly: Place the universal base on a firm, level surface. Position the filter tank securely onto the base.
- Sand Loading: Remove the multi-port valve from the top of the filter tank. Cover the standpipe opening to prevent sand from entering. Carefully add approximately 220 lbs of filter sand (not included) into the tank. Ensure the sand is evenly distributed.
- Multi-port Valve Installation: Clean any sand from the tank opening and the multi-port valve O-ring. Lubricate the O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant. Carefully place the multi-port valve onto the tank, ensuring the standpipe aligns correctly with the valve's opening. Secure the valve with the provided clamp.

Monitor the pressure gauge on the multi-port valve. When the pressure rises 8-10 PSI above the clean filter pressure, it indicates the filter needs backwashing.

- Pump Strainer Basket Cleaning: Periodically inspect and clean the pump's strainer basket. Turn off the pump, close any necessary valves, twist and remove the strainer lid, remove the basket, clear debris, and replace. Ensure the lid is securely fastened to prevent air leaks.
- Sand Replacement: Filter sand typically lasts 3-5 years, depending on usage and water chemistry. Replace the sand when filtration efficiency decreases despite regular backwashing.
- Winterization: Before freezing temperatures, drain all water from the filter tank and pump. Remove the drain plug from the bottom of the filter tank and the pump's drain plugs. Store the pump and multi-port valve in a dry, protected area.
