1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the assembly, operation, maintenance, and care of your Magnussen Bellamy Traditional Wood Rectangular Dining Table. Please read all instructions carefully before assembly and use to ensure safe and proper functionality. Retain this manual for future reference.
2. Safety Information
Adherence to safety guidelines is crucial during assembly and use of this dining table. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the product.
- Assembly: Always assemble the table on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches. Ensure all hardware is securely tightened before use. Two adults are recommended for assembly due to the table's weight and size.
- Weight Handling: Do not exceed the table's weight capacity. Avoid placing excessively heavy objects on the table, especially near the edges.
- Stability: Ensure the table is placed on a level surface. Periodically check and retighten all fasteners to maintain stability.
- Children: Keep children away from the assembly area. Do not allow children to climb on or play with the table.
- Moving the Table: When moving the table, lift it rather than dragging it to prevent damage to the legs and floor.
3. Components List
Verify that all components are present before beginning assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact Magnussen customer support.
- Rectangular Wooden Tabletop (with integrated butterfly leaves)
- Two (2) Pedestal Legs
- One (1) Metal Stretcher Bar
- Assembly Hardware (bolts, washers, nuts, Allen wrench)
Note: Chairs are sold separately and are not included with the dining table.
4. Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps to assemble your Magnussen Bellamy Dining Table. Two people are required for safe and efficient assembly.
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Place them on a soft, clean, non-abrasive surface (e.g., carpet or a blanket) to prevent scratches.
- Attach Pedestal Legs to Tabletop: With the tabletop upside down, align one pedestal leg with the pre-drilled holes on the underside of the tabletop. Secure it using the provided bolts, washers, and nuts. Do not fully tighten yet. Repeat for the second pedestal leg.
- Install Metal Stretcher: Connect the metal stretcher bar between the two pedestal legs. Ensure the holes align and secure with the provided hardware.
- Tighten All Hardware: Once all components are in place, systematically tighten all bolts and nuts using the Allen wrench. Ensure all connections are firm and secure.
- Upright the Table: With assistance, carefully flip the table upright onto its legs. Ensure it is stable before use.

5. Operation: Extending the Table
The Magnussen Bellamy dining table features two 16-inch butterfly leaves, allowing it to extend from 80 inches to 112 inches in length.
- Unlock Tabletop: Locate any locking mechanisms (latches or clips) underneath the tabletop that secure the two halves together. Release these locks.
- Separate Table Halves: Gently pull the two halves of the tabletop apart. The wooden guides underneath will facilitate a smooth extension. Pull until the butterfly leaves are fully exposed in the center.
- Deploy Butterfly Leaves: The butterfly leaves are hinged and stored within the table. Carefully unfold each leaf and lay it flat to form a continuous surface with the main tabletop.
- Close Table Halves: Push the two halves of the tabletop back together until they meet the deployed butterfly leaves. Ensure there are no gaps.
- Secure Tabletop: Re-engage any locking mechanisms underneath the tabletop to secure the extended table.
To retract the table, reverse these steps: unlock, separate, fold and store the butterfly leaves, then push the table halves back together and lock.

6. Maintenance and Care
Proper care will preserve the beauty and longevity of your wood dining table.
- Cleaning: Wipe the table surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or silicone-based polishes, as these can damage the finish.
- Spills: Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub, as this can spread the liquid and damage the finish.
- Heat and Moisture: Use coasters under hot dishes and glasses. Avoid placing hot items directly on the wood surface. Protect the table from excessive moisture and humidity.
- Sunlight: Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can cause fading or cracking of the wood finish.
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check all hardware and tighten as necessary to ensure structural integrity.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your dining table.
- Table Wobbles: Ensure the table is on a level surface. Check all leg and stretcher connections and tighten any loose hardware. If the floor is uneven, use furniture glides or shims under the legs.
- Leaves Do Not Extend/Retract Smoothly: Inspect the wooden guides underneath the tabletop for any obstructions or damage. Ensure all locking mechanisms are fully disengaged before attempting to extend or retract.
- Surface Scratches/Wear: Minor scratches can sometimes be touched up with a wood repair kit matching the Peppercorn finish. For significant damage or finish wear, professional furniture repair may be required. Note that Magnussen does not provide touch-up stain directly.
- Hardware Issues: If any hardware is stripped or broken, contact Magnussen customer support for replacement parts.
