  1. The Medisana TM 700 thermometer comes with one LR44 battery. This battery may be pre-installed.
  2. If the battery needs to be installed or replaced, carefully open the battery compartment cover, usually located at the end opposite the measuring tip.
  3. Insert the LR44 battery with the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Before Measurement

  • Ensure the thermometer is clean and disinfected before each use. Refer to the "Maintenance and Cleaning" section.
  • Press the ON/OFF button to activate the thermometer. A short beep will sound, and the display will show the last measured temperature for a few seconds, followed by "Lo" and a flashing "°C" or "°F", indicating it is ready for measurement.

5.2 Measurement Methods

The Medisana TM 700 can be used for oral, axillary, or rectal temperature measurement.

  1. Oral Measurement (under the tongue):
    • Place the thermometer tip under the tongue, as close as possible to the heat pocket.
    • Close the mouth and hold the thermometer in place.
    • Measurement typically takes approximately 10 seconds.
  2. Axillary Measurement (under the armpit):
    • Place the thermometer tip in the center of the armpit.
    • Press the arm firmly against the body to ensure good contact.
    • Measurement time may be longer than oral or rectal methods, typically around 1-2 minutes, though the device will signal completion in about 10 seconds. For axillary measurements, it is often recommended to add 0.5°C to the displayed value for a more accurate core body temperature estimate.
  3. Rectal Measurement:
    • This method is generally considered the most accurate for infants and young children.
    • Carefully insert the thermometer tip into the rectum (approximately 1-2 cm).
    • Measurement typically takes approximately 10 seconds.

5.3 Reading the Result

  • Once the measurement is complete (approximately 10 seconds), the thermometer will emit an acoustic signal (ten sets of three short beeps if fever is detected, or a single long beep if no fever).
  • The measured temperature will be displayed on the screen.
  • If the temperature is 37.8°C (100°F) or higher, the fever alarm will activate.

5.4 After Measurement

  • Press the ON/OFF button to turn off the thermometer, or it will automatically shut off after approximately 10 minutes of inactivity.
  • Clean and disinfect the thermometer after each use.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

  • Clean the thermometer tip with a soft cloth moistened with a mild alcohol solution (e.g., 70% isopropyl alcohol) or cold soapy water before and after each use.
  • Do not boil the thermometer or immerse it completely in water for extended periods, despite its water-resistant design.
  • Store the thermometer in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
"Lo" or "Err" displayed continuously. Temperature is below the measurable range or an error occurred during measurement. Ensure proper contact with the body. If "Lo" persists, the ambient temperature might be too low. If "Err" persists, try restarting the device.
No display or weak display. Battery is low or depleted. Replace the LR44 battery.
Inaccurate readings. Improper measurement technique, thermometer not clean, or external factors. Review "Operating Instructions" for correct technique. Clean the thermometer. Avoid taking temperature immediately after eating, drinking, or exercising.
