The Sony PMW-300K1 is a professional semi-shoulder mount camcorder designed for field and studio video productions. Setup
1. Unpacking and Initial Inspection
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the packing list are present and undamaged. Report any discrepancies or damage to your dealer immediately.
2. Battery Installation and Charging
The camcorder requires 3 product-specific batteries. Ensure batteries are fully charged before first use.
- Locate the battery compartment on the camcorder.
- Insert the charged batteries according to the polarity indicators.
- Close the battery compartment securely.
3. Lens Attachment
The PMW-300K1 features an interchangeable EX lens mount. Attach the Fujinon 14x HD lens or another compatible EX-mount lens.
- Align the red dot on the lens with the red dot on the camcorder's lens mount.
- Gently insert the lens and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place.
- Remove the lens cap.
4. Memory Card Insertion
The camcorder uses dual ExpressCard/34 SxS memory slots. SD cards can also be used with an adapter (sold separately).
- Open the memory card slot cover.
- Insert the SxS memory card into the slot until it locks.
- Close the memory card slot cover.
5. Viewfinder and LCD Adjustment
Adjust the 3.5-inch LCD viewfinder for optimal viewing. The viewfinder can be positioned for comfortable operation.

Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
To power on the camcorder, slide the POWER switch to the ON position. To power off, slide it to the OFF position.
2. Recording Video
The PMW-300K1 records 1080p video in MPEG-2 format.
- Ensure a formatted memory card is inserted.
- Set the desired recording mode (e.g., HD422 50Mbps).
- Press the REC START/STOP button to begin recording.
- Press the REC START/STOP button again to stop recording.
3. Focus and Zoom Control
Utilize the 14x optical zoom lens for precise framing. The camcorder features fast autofocus and image stabilization.
- Manual Focus: Rotate the focus ring on the lens.
- Autofocus: Engage the autofocus switch for automatic focusing.
- Zoom: Use the zoom rocker on the handle or the zoom ring on the lens.
4. Audio Recording
The camcorder supports four channels of 24-bit 48kHz audio via XLR inputs.
- Connect external microphones or audio sources to the XLR inputs.
- Adjust audio levels using the dedicated audio control dials.
- Monitor audio through headphones connected to the headphone jack.
5. Assignable Function Buttons
The PMW-300K1 includes 8 assignable function buttons. Customize these buttons for quick access to frequently used functions.
