Setup
1. Powering the Radio:
The PR-D18 can be powered by four (4) AA batteries (not included) or an optional AC adapter (not included, Sangean Factory Approved Switching AC Adapter (100-240V, 50/60Hz) model # ADP-PR-D18 sold separately).
Battery Installation:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert four (4) AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

AC Adapter Connection (Optional):
If using an AC adapter, plug the adapter into the DC IN jack on the side of the radio and then into a standard wall outlet. The radio will automatically switch to AC power when connected.
2. Antenna Adjustment:
For optimal FM reception, extend the telescopic antenna fully. For AM reception, the radio has a built-in ferrite bar antenna, so simply orient the radio for the best signal.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off:
- Press the POWER button (red button) located on the top right of the control panel to turn the radio on or off.
2. Display Modes:
- Press the DISPLAY button to toggle between displaying the current time and the radio frequency.
3. Setting Time:
- With the radio off, press and hold the DISPLAY button until the hour digits flash.
- Use the UP (▲) and DOWN (▼) arrow buttons to adjust the hour.
- Press the DISPLAY button again to switch to minute adjustment.
- Use the UP (▲) and DOWN (▼) arrow buttons to adjust the minutes.
- Press the DISPLAY button one more time to confirm and save the time.
4. Setting Alarm:
- Press the ALARM button (bell icon) until the alarm time appears on the display.
- Use the UP (▲) and DOWN (▼) arrow buttons to set the desired alarm time.
- Press the ALARM button again to confirm.
- You can choose to wake to a radio station or a buzzer. The Humane Wake System (HWS) buzzer gradually increases in volume.
5. Tuning Radio Stations:
- Press the BAND button to switch between AM and FM bands.
- Use the UP (▲) and DOWN (▼) arrow buttons to manually tune to a desired frequency.
- For auto-seek, press and hold the UP (▲) or DOWN (▼) arrow buttons. The radio will scan and stop at the next strong station.
6. Setting Station Presets:
The radio allows for 5 AM and 5 FM station presets.
- Tune to the desired station.
- Press and hold one of the numbered preset buttons (1-5) until the display flashes, indicating the station has been saved to that preset.
- To recall a preset station, simply press the corresponding numbered button briefly.
7. Volume Control:
- Use the VOLUME + and VOLUME - buttons to adjust the audio level.
8. Headphone Use:
- Plug 3.5mm headphones into the headphone jack on the side of the radio for private listening. The external speaker will automatically mute.
9. Lock Switch:
- Slide the LOCK switch (located on the side) to prevent accidental button presses, useful during transport or when carrying the radio.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care: Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
- Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
