4. Setup
4.1. Charging the Battery
- Insert the supplied NP-FW50 battery into the camera.
- Connect the camera to the power adapter using the USB cable.
- Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet. The charging indicator will illuminate.
- Charging typically takes approximately 290 minutes (5 hours) when the camera is off. The camera cannot be used while charging via this method.
4.2. Attaching a Lens
- Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear lens cap from the lens.
- Align the white index mark on the lens with the white index mark on the camera body.
- Insert the lens into the camera mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place.
- To detach, press the lens release button on the camera body and rotate the lens counter-clockwise.
4.3. Inserting a Memory Card
The camera supports Memory Stick PRO Duo and SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards.
- Open the memory card/battery cover on the side of the camera.
- Insert the memory card with the notched corner facing the correct direction until it clicks into place.
- Close the cover securely.
5. Basic Operation
5.1. Power On/Off
To turn the camera on or off, slide the power switch located on the top of the camera.
5.2. Taking Photographs
- Turn the mode dial to your desired shooting mode (e.g., Intelligent Auto, Program Auto, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, Manual).
- Frame your shot using either the electronic viewfinder or the LCD screen.
- Press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The camera will confirm focus.
- Press the shutter button fully down to capture the image.
5.3. Recording Videos
- Press the dedicated MOVIE button on the rear of the camera to start recording.
- Press the MOVIE button again to stop recording.
- Videos are recorded in Full HD (1920x1080) at 60i or 24p, using AVCHD or MP4 codecs.
