  • Source Slot (Master): The top-most USB port, designated for the master USB drive containing the data to be copied.
  • Target Slots: The 15 USB ports below the source slot, where blank or target USB drives are inserted for duplication or sanitization.
  • ENT Button: Used to confirm selections and initiate operations.
  • ESC Button: Used to cancel actions or navigate back in the menu.
  • LED Indicators: Each slot has an LED indicator. A green light indicates a successful operation (pass), while a red light indicates a failure.
  • LCD Display: Shows menu options, status, and progress of operations.

Operating Instructions

Basic Duplication Process

The Systor USB Duplicator operates as a standalone unit, requiring no computer or software. Follow these steps for basic duplication:

  1. Insert Source Drive: Insert the master USB flash drive (containing the data to be copied) into the Source Slot (Master).
  2. Insert Target Drives: Insert the blank or target USB flash drives into the Target Slots. You can insert any number of drives up to 15.
  3. Select Copy Function: On the LCD display, navigate to the copy function. This is typically the default option or can be selected using the arrow keys and confirmed with the ENT button.
  4. Choose Copy Mode: The duplicator supports different copy modes. Select the appropriate mode for your needs.

Figure 2: LCD display options for Copy Modes and Erase Modes.

  • System and Files: Copies only the data content from the master source USB drive, excluding any unoccupied drive space. This mode is compatible with FAT 16/32/64, NTFS, and Linux (EXT2/EXT3/EXT4) formats.
  • Whole Media: Performs a bit-by-bit copy of the entire content of the master source USB drive, including any unoccupied drive space. This ensures an exact clone of the source drive.
  1. Start Duplication: Confirm your selection with the ENT button to begin the duplication process.
  2. Monitor Progress: The LCD display will show the progress, and the LED indicators for each target slot will change. A green light indicates a successful copy, while a red light indicates a failure.
  3. Remove Drives: Once the process is complete, safely remove the USB drives.

Erase Modes

The duplicator also functions as a sanitizer, offering various erase modes to securely clear data from USB drives:

  • Quick Erase: Erases data content from the target USB drive(s) without reformatting the drive.
  • Full Erase: Erases both the data content and the format of the target USB drive(s), making data recovery more difficult.
  • DoD Erase: Implements Department of Defense (DoD) standards for data sanitization, performing multiple passes to ensure data is irrecoverable.

Advanced Features

  • Asynchronous Copy: Each channel can independently load, unload, and copy, allowing for continuous burning without stopping the duplication process.
  • High Speed: Copies at speeds up to 2GB per minute (33MB per second). The copy speed remains consistent regardless of the number of target drives.
  • Bit-by-Bit Compare: After duplication, the unit performs a bit-by-bit comparison to confirm the integrity and success of the copies.

Maintenance

General Care

  • Keep the duplicator in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, or moisture.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the unit to strong impacts.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.

Operational Guidelines

  • Do not turn off the duplicator while it is running (i.e., copying, testing, erasing). Interrupting an operation can lead to data corruption on the target drives or damage to the unit.
  • Ensure USB drives are inserted correctly and fully into their respective slots.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions

  • Target Drive LED is Red (Fail)
Cause: The target USB drive may be faulty, write-protected, or have insufficient capacity for the source data.
Solution: Try a different target USB drive. Ensure the drive is not write-protected. Verify that the target drive's capacity is equal to or greater than the source drive's capacity (especially for 'Whole Media' copy mode).
  • Duplication Process is Slow
Cause: The actual copy speed is dependent on the read/write transfer rates of both the master (source) USB drive and the target (blank) flash drives.
Solution: Use high-quality USB 3.0 or 3.1 drives for both source and targets to achieve optimal speeds. Ensure all drives are functioning correctly.
  • Duplicator Does Not Power On
Cause: Power cable not connected properly or power outlet issue.
Solution: Check all power connections. Try plugging the duplicator into a different power outlet.
  • LCD Display Not Responding
        Cause: Temporary software glitch.
Solution: Power off the unit, wait 10 seconds, and power it back on. If the issue persists, contact technical support.
