Setup

1. Driver Installation

  • Insert the provided driver CD into your computer's optical drive and run the installer (.exe file).
  • Alternatively, if you do not have an optical drive, download the latest drivers from the official TOTALCONSOLE support website.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the driver installation. This process typically takes only a few seconds.

2. Connecting the Adapter

  • Plug the TOTALCONSOLE Wireless PS3 Controller to USB Adapter into an available USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port on your PC.

3. Pairing Your PS3 Controller

Before starting the pairing process, ensure your PS3 controller is desynchronized from any PlayStation 3 console within range to prevent unintended connections.

  1. Connect your PS3 controller to the adapter's USB port using a standard USB to USB mini-B cable (the same cable used for charging the PS3 controller). The lights on both the adapter and the PS3 controller will begin to blink.
  2. Press and hold the "PS" button (located in the center of the PS3 controller) for approximately 7 seconds. Then, release the button. The lights on both the adapter and the controller will continue to blink.
  3. Unplug the PS3 controller from the adapter.
  4. Press and hold the "PS" button again, briefly, for one or two seconds. The light on the Mayflash adapter and the Player 1 indicator light on the top of the PS3 controller should become solid, indicating a successful wireless connection.

Operating Modes

The adapter features an Input Switch with two protocol modes for versatility. Adjust the switch on the adapter to select the desired mode:

Direct Input Mode (Standard HID Protocol)

  • When the Input Switch is set to "Direct Input" mode, connected controllers are recognized as standard Human Interface Devices (HID).
  • In this mode, up to four controllers can be recognized and used simultaneously with a single adapter.
  • Controllers can be calibrated through the Windows Gamepad Setup screen.
  • Vibration functionality requires the bundled software to be installed.

Xinput Mode (Xbox 360 Protocol)

  • Setting the switch to "Xinput Mode" allows the adapter to emulate an Xbox 360 controller. This is beneficial for PC games that are optimized for or require an Xbox controller protocol.
  • Vibration Feedback is fully supported and available in Xinput Mode.
  • A limitation of Xinput Mode is that only one controller can be recognized by a single adapter at a time.

Special Functions

Turbo Function

The adapter supports a Turbo/Auto Fire function for individual buttons:

  • To Set Turbo for an Individual Button: Press and hold the PS logo button on your controller, then press the specific button you wish to assign the Turbo function to.
  • To Remove Turbo for a Specific Button: Press and hold the PS logo button, then press the button for which you previously set Turbo.
  • To Clear All Turbo Settings: Quickly press the PS logo button twice within half a second.

Keyboard Key Mapping

If you require mapping controller buttons to keyboard keys for specific games or applications, third-party software such as Joy2Key can be used. Search online for "Joy2Key software" for more information and download options.

Troubleshooting

  • Controller Not Connecting/Recognized:
    • Ensure drivers are correctly installed.
    • Verify the adapter is securely plugged into a functioning USB port.
    • Repeat the pairing steps carefully.
    • Check the Input Switch position; try switching between Direct Input and Xinput modes.
    • If the PS3 controller was recently used with a PS3 console, ensure it is desynchronized from the console before attempting to pair with the adapter.
  • Vibration Feedback Not Working:
    • Vibration Feedback is primarily available and fully supported in Xinput Mode. Ensure the adapter's switch is set to Xinput.
    • For Direct Input mode, ensure the bundled software is installed, as it is needed for vibration functionality in this mode.
  • Only One Controller Working in Multiplayer:
    • If you intend to use multiple controllers (up to four), set the Input Switch to "Direct Input" mode. Xinput Mode supports only one controller per adapter.
  • No Battery Status Indication:
    • The adapter does not provide a battery level indicator for the PS3 controller. It is recommended to regularly charge your PS3 controller to ensure uninterrupted gameplay.
