- Position Vehicles: Park the donor vehicle close enough to the disabled vehicle so the cables can reach both batteries, but ensure the vehicles do not touch. Turn off both vehicles' engines and engage parking brakes.
- Identify Terminals: Locate the positive (+) and negative (-) battery terminals on both batteries. Positive terminals are usually larger and marked with a plus sign (+). Negative terminals are marked with a minus sign (-).
