1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your Sharp Plasmacluster Air Purifier KC-A40EU-W. Please read it thoroughly before using the appliance and retain it for future reference.

Safety Information

• Always unplug the unit before cleaning or performing maintenance.
• Do not operate the unit with a damaged power cord or plug.
• Keep the unit away from water and moisture.
• Ensure proper ventilation around the unit.

2. Setup

Unpacking and Placement

1. Carefully remove the air purifier from its packaging.
2. Remove all protective materials and plastic bags.
3. Place the unit on a firm, level surface, ensuring adequate space around it for air circulation (at least 20 cm from walls or furniture).

Filter Installation

The air purifier uses a multi-stage filtration system to ensure clean air. Ensure all filters are correctly installed before first use.

The filtration system includes a pre-filter, activated carbon filter, and HEPA H13 filter. These filters capture at least 99.9% of airborne pollutants, including PM2.5, mold spores, bacteria, viruses, and pollen. The humidifying filter also removes salts and microorganisms from water.

1. Open the rear panel of the unit.
2. Ensure the pre-filter, activated carbon filter, and HEPA H13 filter are securely in place. Remove any plastic packaging from the filters before installation.
3. Close the rear panel.

Filling the Water Tank (for Humidification)

1. Remove the water tank from the side of the unit.
2. Unscrew the cap and fill the tank with clean tap water.
3. Securely replace the cap and reinsert the water tank into the unit.

3. Operating Instructions

Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet. The unit will enter standby mode.

Control Panel Overview

• ON/OFF Button: Powers the unit on or off.
• CLEAN AIR ON: Activates air purification only.
• CLEAN AIR & HUMIDIFY ON: Activates both air purification and humidification.
• CLEAN/ION SHOWER ON: Initiates a high-density Plasmacluster ion release for rapid air purification.
• FAN SPEED: Adjusts the fan speed (Low, Medium, High, Auto).
• RESET Button: Resets filter indicators after maintenance.
• CHILD LOCK: Prevents accidental operation by children. Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate/deactivate.
• HUMIDITY Display: Shows the current relative humidity level.
• CLEAN SIGN Indicator: Changes color to indicate air quality.

Operating Modes

• Clean Air Mode: Press the "CLEAN AIR ON" button. The unit will purify the air using its filtration system and Plasmacluster ions.
• Clean Air & Humidify Mode: Press the "CLEAN AIR & HUMIDIFY ON" button. The unit will purify the air and add moisture to the environment. Ensure the water tank is filled.
• Ion Shower Mode: Press the "CLEAN/ION SHOWER ON" button. This mode releases a high concentration of Plasmacluster ions for approximately 60 minutes to quickly remove odors and airborne particles.
• Fan Speed Adjustment: Press the "FAN SPEED" button repeatedly to cycle through different fan speeds (Low, Medium, High, Auto). In Auto mode, the unit adjusts fan speed based on detected air quality.

The Plasmacluster technology generates and emits positive and negative ions, similar to those found in nature, to effectively clean the air.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your air purifier.

Cleaning the Pre-filter

• Frequency: Approximately once a month, or when the filter indicator lights up.
• Procedure:
  1. Unplug the unit.
  2. Remove the rear panel and detach the pre-filter.
  3. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the pre-filter. For heavy dirt, wash it with water and a mild detergent, then rinse thoroughly and air dry completely before reinstallation.
  4. Reinstall the pre-filter and close the rear panel.
  5. Press and hold the RESET button for 3 seconds to reset the filter indicator.

Cleaning the Humidifying Filter and Water Tank

• Frequency: As needed, or when the humidification performance decreases.
• Procedure:
  1. Unplug the unit.
  2. Remove the water tank and humidifying filter assembly.
  3. Clean the water tank with water and a mild detergent.
  4. Clean the humidifying filter by soaking it in a descaling solution (e.g., citric acid solution) to remove mineral deposits, then rinse thoroughly.
  5. Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling and reinserting into the unit.

Replacing Filters

The activated carbon filter and HEPA H13 filter are not washable and must be replaced periodically. Replacement frequency depends on usage and air quality, typically every 2-5 years. All replacement filters are available from authorized dealers.

• Procedure:
  1. Unplug the unit.
  2. Remove the rear panel and the old filters.
  3. Install new filters, ensuring correct orientation.
  4. Close the rear panel.
  5. Press and hold the RESET button for 3 seconds to reset the filter indicator.
