Setup
1. Power Source Installation
The AC-2EX can be powered by two 9V batteries or an external 12-28V DC power source.
- Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment located on the back or bottom of the unit. Insert two fresh 9V alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
- External DC Power: Connect a compatible 12-28V DC power adapter (not included) to the DC input jack on the intercom. Ensure the power source is stable and within the specified voltage range.
2. Headset Connection
Connect your aviation headsets to the designated headset jacks on the AC-2EX. The intercom supports both mono and stereo headsets.
- Ensure the headset plugs are fully inserted into the corresponding microphone and headphone jacks.
- For optimal performance, use high-quality aviation headsets.
3. Expansion Module (Optional)
To expand the intercom from two to four places, connect the optional AVCOMM AC-2XM module (sold separately) to the expansion port on the AC-2EX. Refer to the AC-2XM manual for specific connection instructions.
Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
Locate the power switch on the unit. Toggle it to the "ON" position to power on the intercom. The Power-Transmit LED will illuminate. Toggle to "OFF" to power down.
2. Volume Control
Adjust the individual volume controls for each headset position to achieve a comfortable listening level.
3. Pilot Priority PTT (Push-to-Talk)
The AC-2EX features Pilot Priority PTT. When the pilot activates their Push-to-Talk button, all other intercom communications are temporarily muted, ensuring clear transmission from the pilot.
4. Stuck Mic Indicator
The intercom is equipped with a "Stuck Mic" indicator. If a microphone remains open for an extended period (e.g., due to a faulty PTT switch or accidental activation), this LED will illuminate to alert users, preventing continuous transmission and potential radio interference.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the intercom. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the unit.
- Battery Replacement: If using battery power, replace both 9V batteries when the Power-Transmit LED dims or audio quality degrades. Always replace both batteries simultaneously.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and store the intercom in a cool, dry place.
- Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect all cables and connectors for signs of wear or damage. Replace any damaged components immediately.
