5. Setup and Installation

Important: Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician to ensure safety and compliance with electrical regulations.

  1. Preparation: Before starting, ensure the main power supply to the installation area is completely disconnected at the circuit breaker.
  2. Mounting Location: Select a suitable wall location. If installing outdoors, ensure the location offers protection from direct heavy rain, consistent with the IP44 rating.
  3. Disassemble the Lamp: Carefully detach the lamp's base from the main body. This usually involves unscrewing retaining screws on the sides or front.
  4. Marking and Drilling: Use the detached base as a template to mark the drilling points on the wall. Drill holes at the marked positions and insert appropriate wall plugs (not supplied) suitable for your wall material.
  5. Wiring: Feed the electrical cables from the wall through the rubber grommet on the lamp's base. Connect the electrical wires (Live, Neutral, Earth) to the lamp's terminals according to the wiring diagram and local electrical codes. Ensure all connections are secure.
  6. Securing the Base: Fasten the lamp base securely to the wall using appropriate screws (not supplied). Ensure the base is flush against the wall to maintain the IP44 seal.
  7. Installing the Bulb: Insert an E27 bulb (max 60W) into the lamp socket. Do not overtighten.
  8. Attaching the Shade: Carefully place the structured glass shade back onto the lamp body and secure it using the retaining screws or clips removed earlier. Ensure a tight seal to maintain the IP44 rating.
  9. Final Check: Double-check all connections and ensure the lamp is properly assembled and sealed before restoring power at the circuit breaker.

6. Operation

Once the REV Oval Wall Lamp is correctly installed and the power supply is restored, the lamp will operate via your standard wall switch. Simply toggle the switch to turn the light ON or OFF. This lamp is designed to provide general, uniform illumination.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Always disconnect the power supply before cleaning. Wipe the lamp's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish or seals.
  • Bulb Replacement: Disconnect the power supply. Allow the bulb to cool completely before touching it. Carefully unscrew the old E27 bulb and replace it with a new E27 bulb (max 60W). Ensure the new bulb is securely seated before restoring power.
  • Periodic Inspection: Regularly inspect the lamp for any signs of damage, wear, or deterioration, especially the seals if installed outdoors. If any damage is found, or if the lamp's IP44 integrity is compromised, consult a qualified electrician for repair or replacement.

8. Troubleshooting

If your REV Oval Wall Lamp is not functioning as expected, please refer to the following common issues and solutions:

  • Lamp does not light up:
    • Check if the main power supply to the lamp is connected and active.
    • Ensure the wall switch controlling the lamp is in the 'ON' position.
    • Verify that the E27 bulb is correctly installed and not faulty. Try replacing the bulb with a known working one.
    • If the issue persists after checking these points, there may be an electrical fault. Consult a qualified electrician.
  • Light is flickering:
    • Ensure the bulb is screwed in tightly.
    • Try replacing the bulb, as a faulty bulb can cause flickering.
    • If using an LED bulb, ensure it is compatible with your electrical system (e.g., not connected to an incompatible dimmer switch).
