4. Setup

4.1 Connecting Speakers

The AVR-X500 supports a 5.1 channel speaker configuration. Use high-quality speaker cables to connect your speakers to the color-coded terminals on the rear panel of the receiver. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for optimal sound performance.

  • Front Speakers (L/R): Connect to the "FRONT" terminals.
  • Center Speaker: Connect to the "CENTER" terminal.
  • Surround Speakers (L/R): Connect to the "SURROUND" terminals.

4.2 Connecting Audio/Video Devices

Connect your source devices (Blu-ray player, game console, cable/satellite box, TV) to the appropriate HDMI, optical, coaxial, or analog audio/video inputs on the receiver.

  • HDMI Connections: For devices supporting HDMI, connect them to the HDMI IN ports. Connect the receiver's HDMI OUT to your TV or projector. The AVR-X500 supports 1080P and 3D pass-through.
  • Digital Audio: For devices with optical or coaxial digital audio outputs, connect them to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN ports.
  • Analog Audio: Use RCA cables for analog audio connections.
  • Portable Devices: Use the Stereo Mini Jack on the front panel for quick connection of portable audio players.

4.3 Initial Power-On and Basic Settings

After all connections are made, plug in the power cord and press the POWER button on the front panel or remote control. Follow the on-screen instructions (if connected to a display) for initial setup, including speaker configuration and input assignments. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) simplifies this process.

  • Power On/Off: Press the POWER button on the front panel or remote.
