Controls and Indicators:
- POWER/STANDBY Button: Turns the unit on/off and cycles through operating modes (Radio, CD, AUX). Also used to stop an active alarm.
- SNOOZE/SLEEP Button: Activates snooze function during alarm, or sleep timer during playback.
- OPEN Button: Releases the CD compartment lid.
- PLAY/PAUSE Button: Initiates or pauses CD playback.
- STOP Button: Stops CD playback.
- TUNING UP/DOWN Buttons: Adjusts radio frequency or navigates CD tracks.
- VOLUME UP/DOWN Buttons: Adjusts audio volume.
- PROGRAM Button: Used for programming CD tracks or radio presets.
- REPEAT Button: Repeats current track or all tracks on CD.
- TIME SET Button: Used for setting the current time.
- ALARM 1/2 Buttons: Used for setting and activating/deactivating Alarm 1 and Alarm 2.
- LED Display: Shows time, alarm status (AL1-B, AL1-M, AL2-B, AL2-M), and radio frequency.
- CD Compartment: Top-loading area for compact discs.

Setup
1. Power Connection
Connect the AC power cord to a standard AC 120V~60Hz wall outlet. The unit is now powered for operation.
2. Battery Backup Installation
For clock and alarm memory backup during power outages, install 2 x 'AA' (UM-3) batteries (not included). The battery compartment is located under the CD lid. Ensure correct polarity (+ and -) when inserting batteries.
3. Setting the Clock
- In standby mode (unit off, time displayed), press and hold the TIME SET button.
- The hour digits will flash. Use the TUNING UP/DOWN buttons to adjust the hour. Pay attention to the PM indicator.
- Press TIME SET again. The minute digits will flash. Use the TUNING UP/DOWN buttons to adjust the minutes.
- Press TIME SET one more time to confirm and exit clock setting mode.
Operating Instructions
1. Radio Operation
- Press the POWER/STANDBY button to turn on the unit. Press repeatedly to select FM or AM radio mode.
- Adjust the VOLUME using the dedicated volume controls.
- Manual Tuning: Press the TUNING UP/DOWN buttons briefly to adjust the frequency step by step.
- Automatic Tuning: Press and hold the TUNING UP/DOWN buttons for a few seconds. The radio will scan and stop at the next strong station.
- Setting Presets:
- Tune to your desired station.
- Press the PROGRAM button. A preset number will flash on the display.
- Use the TUNING UP/DOWN buttons to select the desired preset number (1-10 for AM, 1-10 for FM).
- Press PROGRAM again to save the station.
- Recalling Presets: In radio mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly to cycle through your saved stations.
2. CD Player Operation
The JCR-310 supports CD-R/RW discs.
- Press the OPEN button to open the CD compartment lid.
- Place a CD with the label side facing up into the compartment.
- Close the CD compartment lid firmly.
- Press the POWER/STANDBY button repeatedly to select CD mode. "CD" will appear on the display.
- Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to begin playback. The track number and elapsed time will be displayed.
- Press PLAY/PAUSE again to pause playback. Press it once more to resume.
- Press the STOP button to stop CD playback.
- Skip Tracks: Press the TUNING UP/DOWN buttons briefly to skip to the next or previous track.
- Search: Press and hold the TUNING UP/DOWN buttons during playback to fast forward or rewind within a track.
- Repeat Play: Press the REPEAT button once to repeat the current track. Press it again to repeat all tracks.
- Program Play:
- In STOP mode, press the PROGRAM button. "P01" will flash.
- Use the TUNING UP/DOWN buttons to select the desired track for program 1.
- Press PROGRAM again to confirm and move to the next program slot.
- Repeat for up to 20 tracks. Press PLAY/PAUSE to start programmed playback.
3. Auxiliary Input
Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the AUX IN jack on the unit using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included). Press the POWER/STANDBY button repeatedly to select AUX mode. Audio from the external device will play through the JCR-310 speakers. Control playback from your external device.
4. Alarm Functions
The JCR-310 features dual alarms (AL1 and AL2). The unit operates in two main modes: Clock Mode (when the unit is off, displaying time) and Audio Mode (when the unit is on, playing radio, CD, or AUX). Some buttons perform different functions depending on the active mode.
- Preparing for CD/Radio Alarm:
- If you intend to wake to CD, first switch the unit to CD mode (Audio Mode), load your desired CD, and set the playback volume to a comfortable level.
- If you intend to wake to Radio, first switch the unit to Radio mode (Audio Mode), tune to your desired station, and set the playback volume to a comfortable level.
- Once prepared, turn the unit off (return to Clock Mode) before setting the alarm.
- Setting Alarm Time:
- In Clock Mode, press and hold the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button.
- The alarm hour digits will flash. Use the TUNING UP/DOWN buttons to adjust the hour.
- Press the ALARM 1/2 button again. The alarm minute digits will flash. Use the TUNING UP/DOWN buttons to adjust the minutes.
- Press the ALARM 1/2 button again to confirm the alarm time.
- Selecting Alarm Source (Wake to CD/Radio/Buzzer):
- After confirming the alarm time, press the ALARM 1/2 button repeatedly to cycle through the wake modes: Buzzer (B), Radio (R), or CD (C). The selected mode will be indicated on the display (e.g., AL1-B, AL1-R, AL1-C).
- Activating/Deactivating Alarm: Press the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button briefly (do not hold) to toggle the alarm on or off. The alarm indicator (AL1 or AL2) will appear/disappear on the display.
- Snooze Function: When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE/SLEEP button to temporarily silence it for approximately 9 minutes. The alarm will sound again after this period.
- Stopping the Alarm: To turn off the alarm completely for the day, press and hold the POWER/STANDBY button. The alarm will reset for the next day. A brief press of the POWER/STANDBY button will only change modes.
- Sleep Timer: When the unit is playing (CD, Radio, or AUX), press the SNOOZE/SLEEP button repeatedly to set a sleep timer (e.g., 90, 60, 30, 15 minutes, or OFF). The unit will automatically turn off after the selected time.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Unit
Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. For the CD lens, use a specialized CD lens cleaner disc.
Battery Replacement
Replace the 'AA' backup batteries annually or if the clock/alarm settings are lost during a power outage. Ensure the unit is unplugged from AC power before replacing batteries.
