3. Setup and Programming
The Marantec M3-2312 remote control can be programmed using an existing, working remote or directly to your garage door opener. Ensure your garage door opener is a Marantec model operating at 315 MHz.
Method 1: Programming from an Existing Remote (Cloning)
This method requires a working Marantec remote control and a short length of wire (e.g., a paperclip or small jumper wire) to connect the programming connectors.
- Open both the existing, working remote and the new M3-2312 remote to access their internal programming connectors. These are typically small metal pins or ports.
- Using a small wire, connect the corresponding programming connectors on both remotes. Ensure a secure connection.
- On the existing, working remote, press and hold the button you wish to copy. The LED on the existing remote may illuminate.
- While still holding the button on the existing remote, press and hold the desired button on the new M3-2312 remote.
- Hold both buttons until the LED on the new M3-2312 remote flashes rapidly or changes color, indicating successful programming. This may take several seconds.
- Release both buttons and disconnect the wire.
- Test the new remote with your garage door opener. If it does not work, repeat the steps.
Note: If you attempt to program a second remote directly to the opener after programming the first via cloning, the opener may issue a new code, causing the first cloned remote to cease functioning. It is recommended to clone all new remotes from a single master remote if possible.
