  4. Soak the Wick: Place the solid snuffer cap onto the burner. Allow the wick to soak in the fragrance for at least 20 minutes (for first-time use or if the lamp has been dry). This ensures the wick is saturated for proper operation.

Operating Instructions

  1. Light the Burner: After the wick has soaked, remove the snuffer cap. Using a lighter or match, light the catalytic stone at the top of the burner. A flame will appear.

  2. Allow to Burn: Let the flame burn for approximately 2 minutes. This activates the catalytic process.
  3. Extinguish the Flame: Gently blow out the flame. The catalytic process will continue without a visible flame, purifying the air and diffusing fragrance. The stone will remain hot.

  4. Diffusion Time: For optimal air purification and fragrance diffusion, allow the lamp to operate for 20 minutes per 110 square feet of space. Do not exceed 30 minutes of diffusion time in a single session.
  5. Stop Diffusion: To stop the diffusion process, carefully place the solid snuffer cap back onto the catalytic burner. This will cut off oxygen and stop the catalytic action.
  6. Replace Decorative Shade: Once the burner has cooled completely, you may replace the decorative shade for aesthetic purposes.

Maintenance

  • Burner Lifespan: The catalytic burner typically lasts for approximately 200 uses or one year of regular use. Replace the burner when you notice a decrease in fragrance diffusion or purification effectiveness.
  • Cleaning the Lamp: Wipe the exterior of the lamp with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Changing Fragrances: To change fragrances, you can either let the lamp run until it is empty, or carefully remove the burner, pour out the remaining fragrance, and rinse the lamp with a neutral Lampe Berger fragrance before refilling with your new scent.

Troubleshooting

  • Lamp does not light: Ensure the wick has soaked for at least 20 minutes. The catalytic stone may be saturated or worn out; try replacing the burner.
  • No fragrance diffusion or weak scent: The burner may be old or clogged. Replace the catalytic burner. Ensure the lamp is not overfilled, which can prevent proper capillary action.
  • Flame does not extinguish: If the flame continues to burn after 2 minutes, gently blow it out again. If it persists, the burner may be faulty or the wick is not properly saturated. Ensure the snuffer cap is placed correctly to stop the process.
  • Black smoke: This indicates the burner is not operating correctly. Extinguish immediately with the snuffer cap and allow to cool. Inspect the burner for damage or replace it.
