3. Setup and Application
Follow these steps to correctly apply the Seresto collar to your dog:
- Remove from Packaging: Carefully remove the collar from its packaging.
- Unroll and Prepare: Unroll the collar and remove any small plastic connectors from inside the collar, ensuring no remnants remain.
- Insert and Buckle: Insert the end of the collar through the buckle and loops.
- Adjust Fit: Adjust the collar around your dog's neck until it fits comfortably. Ensure that two fingers can fit snugly beneath the collar and your dog's neck to prevent it from being too tight.
- Trim Excess: Cut off any excess length of the collar beyond approximately one inch past the loops. For growing puppies, leave some additional length for future adjustments.

4. Operating Principles
The Seresto collar releases its active ingredients, Imidacloprid and Flumethrin, in low concentrations onto your dog's skin and coat. These ingredients spread across the skin surface, providing continuous protection.
- Flea Control: Existing fleas are killed within 24 hours after initial application. New fleas are killed within 2 hours, with protection against further flea infestation lasting 8 months. The collar kills and repels fleas on contact, meaning pests do not need to bite your dog to be affected.
- Tick Control: The prevention of infestations with new ticks begins 48 hours after application. After 48 hours, new ticks are repelled and/or killed in as quickly as 6 hours. The collar protects against common ticks such as deer ticks, American dog ticks, brown dog ticks, and Lone Star ticks.

5. Maintenance
- Collar Fit: Regularly check the collar's fit, especially on growing puppies, to ensure it remains comfortable and effective. It should not be too tight or too loose.
- Water Resistance: The Seresto collar is water resistant and remains effective after exposure to rain, sunlight, swimming, bathing, and shampoo treatment.
- Bathing Frequency: To maintain the full eight-month duration of effectiveness, dogs should not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to 5 months for flea control and 7 months for tick control.
