3. Setup

3.1 Attaching the Lens

  1. Ensure your camera is turned off.
  2. Remove the rear lens cap from the Sigma 17-70mm lens and the body cap from your Canon camera.
  3. Align the mounting index mark (usually a red dot or white square) on the lens with the corresponding mark on the camera body.
  4. Insert the lens into the camera mount and turn it clockwise until it clicks securely into place.

3.2 Removing the Lens

  1. Ensure your camera is turned off.
  2. While pressing the lens release button on the camera body, turn the lens counter-clockwise until it stops.
  3. Carefully remove the lens from the camera body.
  4. Immediately attach the front and rear lens caps to protect the glass elements from dust and damage.

The included petal-shaped lens hood helps to block stray light, reducing flare and ghosting, and provides additional protection for the front element.

  1. Align the lens hood with the front of the lens.
  2. Turn the hood clockwise until it locks securely into position.
  3. For storage, the lens hood can be reversed and attached to the lens.
