Installation Instructions

This shower drain is designed for installation in pre-formed shower stall floors with a 2-inch ABS or PVC pipe connection. No caulking is required for the pipe connection due to the compression gasket system.

  1. Prepare the Shower Floor Opening: Ensure the opening in the shower floor is clean and free of debris. The drain is designed to fit standard 2-inch drain openings.
  2. Connect to Waste Pipe: Insert the lower threaded portion of the plastic drain body into the 2-inch ABS or PVC waste pipe. The keyed rubber compression gasket will create a watertight seal.
  3. Tighten the Compression Nut: From above the shower floor, place the compression nut over the drain body. Use the provided caulk nut tightening tool (or a screwdriver) to securely tighten the compression nut. This will compress the rubber gasket, sealing the drain to the pipe. Do not overtighten.
  4. Install the Grid Cover: Align the tabs on the underside of the 4-1/4 inch round grid cover with the corresponding slots on the drain body. Press down firmly until the cover snaps securely into place.

Operation

Once properly installed, the Westbrass D206P-62 shower drain operates automatically to channel water away from your shower area. The grid cover is designed to prevent larger debris from entering the drain pipe, minimizing the risk of clogging while allowing efficient water flow.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning will help maintain the appearance and functionality of your shower drain.

  1. Routine Cleaning: Clean the grid cover regularly with a soft cloth and mild soap or a non-abrasive bathroom cleaner. Rinse thoroughly with water.
  2. Removing Debris: Periodically remove the grid cover by gently prying it up (if necessary, use a flat tool carefully to avoid scratching) to clear any accumulated hair or debris from the drain opening.
  3. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemical drain cleaners, as these can damage the finish of the grid cover and the plastic drain body.
