Initial Setup:

  1. Place the base section of the ladder on a stable, level surface. Ensure the crossbar is fully extended and resting firmly on the ground.
  2. Grasp the blue rope to extend the middle section. Slowly pull the rope, allowing the middle section to slide upwards until its locking mechanisms engage securely. Verify that both sides are locked.
  3. Next, grasp the orange rope to extend the top section. Pull the rope until the top section slides upwards and its locking mechanisms engage. Confirm secure locking on both sides.
  4. Before climbing, gently push down on the extended sections to ensure all locks are fully seated and the ladder is stable.

Operating Instructions

Extending the Ladder:

  1. Position the ladder at the correct angle (approximately 75 degrees from the horizontal). The wall rollers facilitate smooth extension against a vertical surface.
  2. Pull the blue rope to extend the middle section. Ensure the locking hooks engage securely on the rungs of the lower section.
  3. Pull the orange rope to extend the top section. Ensure its locking hooks engage securely on the rungs of the middle section.
  4. Always check that all sections are fully extended and locked before climbing.

Retracting the Ladder:

  1. Carefully disengage the locking mechanisms of the top section, usually by pulling the rope slightly and releasing the hooks.
  2. Gently lower the top section until it rests on the middle section.
  3. Disengage the locking mechanisms of the middle section.
  4. Gently lower the middle section until it rests on the base section.
  5. Ensure all sections are fully retracted and secured for storage.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Hymer ladder.

  • Cleaning: Clean the ladder regularly with a damp cloth to remove dirt, grease, or other debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the aluminum or plastic components.
  • Inspection: Before each use, inspect all components:
    • Check rungs and stiles for dents, cracks, or bends.
    • Verify that all ropes are intact, not frayed, and move freely.
    • Ensure locking mechanisms (hooks, guide fittings) are clean, functional, and engage securely.
    • Inspect wall rollers for smooth rotation and damage.
    • Check the stability of the crossbar and its attachment points.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a light lubricant to the moving parts of the locking mechanisms and guide fittings to ensure smooth operation.
  • Storage: Store the ladder in a dry, protected area, away from extreme temperatures and corrosive substances.
