4. Operating Instructions
4.1. General Disinfection of Hard, Non-Porous Surfaces
CaviWipes is a two-step disinfectant product. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves, when handling.
- Pre-Cleaning: Use one CaviWipes towelette to completely pre-clean the surface of all visible debris.
- Disinfection: Use a second CaviWipes towelette to thoroughly wet the surface. Repeated use of the product may be required to ensure that the surface remains visibly wet for 3 minutes at room temperature (68°F/20°C) for tuberculocidal activity and effectiveness against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Trichophyton interdigitale, and Salmonella enterica.
- For effectiveness against HIV-1, HBV, HCV, and SARS-CoV-2, ensure the surface remains visibly wet for 2 minutes at room temperature (68°F/20°C).
4.2. Disinfection of External Surfaces of Ultrasound Transducers
Pre-clean the ultrasound gel from the external transducer to be disinfected. Then thoroughly wet the probe with a CaviWipes towelette and allow the pre-cleaned surface to remain visibly wet for 3 minutes. Repeated use of the product may be required to ensure that the surface remains visibly wet for 3 minutes at 68°F/20°C.
5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and effectiveness of CaviWipes, always keep the center cap of the canister closed tightly when not in use. This prevents the solution from evaporating and keeps the towelettes fresh and fully saturated.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with the product, such as dry wipes or difficulty dispensing, ensure the lid is properly sealed. If the problem persists, contact Metrex customer support for assistance.
