Introduction
Welcome to your new Bajaj MX 2 1200-Watt Steam Iron. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use, setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your appliance. Please read it thoroughly before first use and retain it for future reference.
Important Safety Instructions
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.
- Read all instructions carefully before using the iron.
- Do not leave the iron unattended while it is connected to the power supply or while it is hot.
- To protect against the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the iron, power cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
- Always unplug the iron from the electrical outlet when filling with water, emptying, or when not in use.
- Keep the iron out of reach of children and pets.
- Use the iron only for its intended purpose.
- Do not operate the iron with a damaged cord or plug, or if the iron has been dropped or damaged.
- Place the iron on a stable, heat-resistant surface when resting.
- Critical Note: Please wait for the iron to heat up sufficiently before using the steam function. If the iron is not hot enough when steam is activated, it may lead to water leakage from the soleplate.

Figure 2: This diagram illustrates key practices to prevent water leakage from your steam iron, including ensuring adequate heating before steam use, using appropriate water, maintaining cleanliness, and avoiding overfilling the water tank.
Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the iron and all packaging materials from the box. Ensure all components are present, including the iron itself.
- First Use Preparation: Before first use, it is recommended to iron an old piece of fabric to ensure no manufacturing residues are transferred to your garments.
- Filling the Water Tank:
- Ensure the iron is unplugged from the power outlet.
- Open the water filler cap.
- Fill the water tank with clean tap water up to the 'MAX' level indicator. Do not overfill.
- Close the water filler cap securely.
Operating Instructions
- Connecting to Power: Plug the iron into a suitable electrical outlet.
- Setting Temperature: Turn the temperature control dial to the desired setting based on the fabric type. Refer to the fabric care labels on your garments. The indicator light will illuminate, showing the iron is heating.
- Waiting for Heat: Wait until the indicator light turns off, signifying that the iron has reached the selected temperature. For steam ironing, ensure the iron is fully heated to prevent water leakage.
- Using Steam Function (Variable Steam Control):
- Once the iron is hot, adjust the steam control slider to the desired steam level.
- Move the iron over the fabric. The iron will produce a continuous steam output of approximately 9 grams per minute.
- Using Steam Burst: For stubborn creases, press the 'Steam Burst' button. This releases a powerful burst of steam. Allow a few seconds between bursts for the steam to regenerate.
- Using Water Spray: For dampening dry areas or tough wrinkles, press the 'Water Spray' button to release a fine mist of water onto the fabric.
- Dry Ironing: For dry ironing, ensure the steam control slider is set to the 'OFF' position and the water tank is empty.
- Glide Edge Technology: The iron's Glide Edge technology and non-stick soleplate are designed for smooth movement across various fabrics.
- Swivel Cord: The swivel cord provides flexibility and ease of movement during ironing, preventing tangles.
Maintenance and Care
- After Each Use:
- Unplug the iron and allow it to cool completely.
- Empty any remaining water from the tank.
- Cleaning the Soleplate:
- Wipe the non-stick soleplate with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads, as these can damage the coating.
- If starch or other residue adheres to the soleplate, clean it with a soft cloth dampened with vinegar or a specialized soleplate cleaner.
- Cleaning the Body: Wipe the plastic body of the iron with a soft, damp cloth.
- Storage: Store the cooled iron upright on its heel rest in a dry, safe place. Do not wrap the cord tightly around the iron; allow it to coil loosely.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Water leaks from soleplate | Iron not hot enough for steam; water tank overfilled; steam setting too high for temperature. | Allow iron to heat fully before using steam; do not overfill water tank; reduce steam setting or increase temperature. |
| No steam or insufficient steam | Water tank empty; iron not hot enough; steam vents clogged. | Fill water tank; wait for iron to reach temperature; clean steam vents (refer to maintenance). |
| Iron not heating | Iron not plugged in; power outlet faulty; temperature dial set to minimum. | Check power connection; test outlet with another appliance; adjust temperature dial. |
| Soleplate sticking or dirty | Residue from fabric or starch build-up. | Clean soleplate as per maintenance instructions. |
