Setup and Assembly

Your SystemBuild Evolution Kendall Storage Cabinet ships flat to your door and requires assembly. Two adults are recommended for the assembly process to ensure safety and ease of construction. Please ensure you have adequate space and all components before beginning.

Required Tools:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Hammer (optional, for dowels)
  • Level (for adjustable feet)

Assembly Steps (General Overview):

  1. Unpack and Identify Components: Carefully unpack all parts and hardware. Refer to the included instruction booklet to identify each piece. Components are typically labeled for easy identification.
  2. Assemble the Frame: Connect the side panels, top, and bottom panels using the provided hardware (dowels, cams, screws). Ensure all connections are secure.
  3. Install Shelves: Insert shelf pins into the pre-drilled holes at your desired height for the adjustable shelves. Slide the shelves onto the pins. Fixed shelves will have designated attachment points.
  4. Attach Back Panel: Secure the back panel to the cabinet frame using small nails or screws. Ensure the cabinet is square before attaching the back panel for proper door alignment.
  5. Install Doors and Hinges: Attach the soft-close hinges to the cabinet doors and then to the cabinet frame. Adjust the hinges as needed to ensure the doors hang straight and close properly. (Refer to the 'Troubleshooting' section for hinge adjustment tips).
  6. Attach Handles: Secure the decorative handles to the cabinet doors.
  7. Install Adjustable Feet: Screw the adjustable feet into the bottom of the cabinet. Use a level to ensure the cabinet is stable and level on uneven floors.
  8. Secure with Wall Anchor Kit: This is a critical safety step. Follow the instructions provided with the wall anchor kit to securely attach the cabinet to a wall stud.

Operating Instructions

The SystemBuild Evolution Kendall Storage Cabinet is designed for versatile storage in various rooms, including kitchens, laundry rooms, and offices.

Adjustable Shelves:

The cabinet features five shelves, three of which are adjustable. To adjust a shelf, simply remove the items from the shelf, lift the shelf, and reposition the shelf pins into the desired pre-drilled holes along the cabinet sides. Then, place the shelf back onto the pins. This allows you to customize the storage space for both small and large items, such as pantry goods, cleaning supplies, or office documents.

Soft-Close Hinges:

The cabinet doors are equipped with soft-close hinges. These hinges are designed to prevent the doors from slamming shut, providing a quieter and smoother closing action. They are also adjustable, allowing for fine-tuning of door alignment (see Troubleshooting for details).

Maintenance

To maintain the appearance and longevity of your SystemBuild Evolution Kendall Storage Cabinet, follow these simple care instructions:

  • Cleaning: The water-resistant white finish can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish.
  • Spills: Wipe up spills immediately to prevent moisture damage, especially on the edges and seams.
  • Hardware: Periodically check all screws and hardware to ensure they remain tight. Tighten if necessary to maintain stability.
  • Leveling: Re-check the cabinet's level periodically, especially if moved, and adjust the feet as needed.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your storage cabinet.

Doors Are Not Aligned or Crooked:

If the cabinet doors do not hang straight or appear crooked, this can typically be resolved by adjusting the soft-close hinges. The hinges have multiple adjustment screws:

  • Side-to-Side Adjustment: This screw moves the door horizontally, allowing you to adjust the gap between the doors or between the door and the cabinet frame.
  • Depth Adjustment: This screw moves the door in or out relative to the cabinet frame.
  • Height Adjustment: This screw (often on the mounting plate) allows you to move the door up or down.

Make small adjustments to one screw at a time and check the door alignment after each adjustment until the desired position is achieved. Patience is key for precise alignment.

Cabinet Wobbles or is Unstable:

Ensure the adjustable feet at the base of the cabinet are properly set. Use a level to confirm the cabinet is stable on your floor. Adjust each foot individually until the cabinet is level and does not wobble. Additionally, verify that the wall anchor kit is securely installed and properly attached to a wall stud.

Minor Cosmetic Imperfections:

Occasionally, minor cosmetic imperfections such as small dents or edge damage may occur during shipping. While these are typically minor and do not affect functionality, if you receive a product with significant damage, please contact customer support.
