Figure 3: Amplifier control panel and input connections.

  1. Power Connection: Connect the red power wire to a fused 12V positive terminal of your vehicle's battery. Connect the black ground wire to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle's chassis or directly to the battery's negative terminal.
  2. Remote Turn-On: Connect the blue remote turn-on wire to the remote output of your head unit or a switched 12V source. This will turn the amplifier on and off with your audio system.
  3. Speaker Connections: Connect your speakers to the amplifier's speaker output wires. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for optimal sound. The amplifier supports 2-ohm stereo stable operation.
  4. Audio Input:
    • RCA Line Input: Use the included 3.5mm-to-RCA adaptor to connect your audio source (e.g., iPod, MP3 player) to the RCA input jacks on the amplifier.
    • High-Level Input: If your head unit does not have RCA outputs, you can connect directly to the speaker outputs of your head unit. Set the "Input Level" switch to "SPEAKER".
  5. Remote Volume Control: Plug the wired remote volume control into the designated port on the amplifier. This allows for convenient volume adjustment from your dashboard.

Operating Instructions

Adjusting Audio Settings

Hand pressing the button on the Pyle remote control for gain adjustment.

Figure 4: Remote control for volume gain.

The switches and gain settings are located behind a watertight plug on the amplifier. Adjust these settings to fine-tune your audio output:

  • Input Level Switch: Set this switch based on your audio source.
    • LINE (out) Position: For connecting to a LINE level source (typically RCA type connection).
    • SPEAKER Position: For connecting to loudspeaker outputs, headphones, or high-level sources.
  • Polarity Switch (NORMAL/REVERSE): This switch optimizes bass performance, especially when multiple loudspeakers produce bass. Play music with strong bass and toggle the switch to determine which setting provides a more pleasing bass response.
  • Gain Control: Adjusts the overall output level of the amplifier. When using the amplifier without the remote volume control, set the gain to balance with other loudspeakers in your system. Keep the gain setting as low as possible while still achieving desired output power to minimize noise.
  • Volume Control (Remote): The wired remote control allows you to adjust the volume conveniently. Turning the volume all the way down on the remote will power off the amplifier.

Maintenance

  • Keep the amplifier clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Regularly check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion, especially in marine environments.
  • Ensure the amplifier has adequate ventilation to prevent overheating. Do not block cooling fins or vents.
  • If the fuse blows, replace it with a fuse of the same type and rating (10A).

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No Power/No SoundBlown fuse; Loose power/ground connection; Remote turn-on wire not connected or no signal; Amplifier in protection mode.Check and replace fuse (10A); Verify all power and ground connections are secure; Ensure remote wire receives 12V when head unit is on; Check for short circuits in speaker wiring.
Distorted SoundGain set too high; Input level mismatch; Speaker impedance too low; Damaged speakers.Reduce gain setting; Ensure Input Level switch matches source (LINE/SPEAKER); Verify speaker impedance is 2 Ohms or higher; Inspect speakers for damage.
No Bass or Weak BassIncorrect polarity setting; Speakers wired out of phase.Adjust Polarity switch (NORMAL/REVERSE); Verify speaker wiring polarity.
Static or NoisePoor ground connection; RCA cables too close to power wires; Engine noise.Ensure ground connection is clean and secure; Reroute RCA cables away from power wires; Install a ground loop isolator if necessary.
