3. Physical Description

3.1 Front Panel

The front panel of the HP 1810-24G v2 Switch features the following components:

• 24 x 10/100/1000Base-T Ports: RJ-45 ports for connecting network devices using Ethernet cables. Each port supports auto-negotiation for speed and duplex mode.

2. For fiber optic connections, insert compatible SFP transceivers (not included) into the SFP ports, then connect fiber optic cables.
3. Observe the port LEDs to confirm link status and activity.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Initial Configuration (Web Interface)

The HP 1810-24G v2 Switch is a smart-managed switch, configurable via a web-based interface.

1. Connect a computer directly to any RJ-45 port on the switch using an Ethernet cable.
2. Configure your computer's IP address to be in the same subnet as the switch's default IP address (refer to the Quick Start Guide for default IP).
3. Open a web browser and enter the switch's default IP address.
4. Log in using the default username and password (refer to the Quick Start Guide).
5. Follow the on-screen prompts to change the default password and configure basic network settings, such as the switch's IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.
6. Explore the web interface for advanced features like VLAN tagging, Link Aggregation (LACP), Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Quality of Service (QoS), and SNMP.

5.2 Basic Network Operation

Once configured, the switch operates automatically to forward network traffic between connected devices.

• Plug and Play: Connect Ethernet devices to any available port. The switch will automatically detect the connection speed and duplex mode.
• Gigabit Performance: Supports Gigabit Ethernet speeds (1000 Mbps) for high-bandwidth applications.
• SFP Connectivity: Utilize SFP ports for fiber uplinks to connect to other switches or network segments over longer distances.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Firmware Updates

Periodically check the Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) support website for firmware updates. Keeping the firmware up-to-date ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features.

1. Download the latest firmware from the official HPE support portal.
2. Access the switch's web interface.
3. Navigate to the firmware upgrade section and follow the instructions to upload and install the new firmware.
4. Note: Do not power off the switch during a firmware upgrade.

6.2 Cleaning

To maintain proper ventilation and prevent overheating, keep the switch clean.

7. Troubleshooting

7.2 No Network Connectivity

• Verify the link/activity LED for the connected port. If it is off, try a different port or cable.
• Ensure the connected device is powered on and configured correctly.
• If using SFP ports, ensure compatible transceivers are used and fiber cables are correctly connected.
• Confirm the switch's IP address and network settings are correct via the web interface.

7.3 Cannot Access Web Interface

• Ensure your computer's IP address is in the same subnet as the switch.
• Verify you are using the correct IP address for the switch.
• Clear your browser's cache or try a different browser.
• If the password was changed and forgotten, you may need to perform a factory reset (see Section 6.3).
