4. Setup and Installation

4.1. Preparation

  1. Turn off the main water supply to the installation area. Open nearby faucets to drain any remaining water from the lines.
  2. Clear the area under the sink for easy access.
  3. If replacing an old faucet, remove it and clean the sink surface thoroughly.

4.2. Faucet Installation

  1. Apply a thin bead of plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the base of the faucet where it will meet the sink deck.
  2. Insert the faucet shanks through the three holes in the sink deck. Ensure the faucet is properly aligned.
  3. From underneath the sink, slide the rubber gasket, then the metal washer, onto each shank.
  4. Thread the mounting nuts onto the shanks and hand-tighten.
  5. Verify the faucet is straight on the sink deck, then use an adjustable wrench to securely tighten the mounting nuts. Do not overtighten.

4.3. Water Supply Connections

  1. Wrap thread seal tape (Teflon tape) clockwise around the threads of the hot and cold water supply valves.
  2. Connect the hot and cold water supply lines (not included) to the corresponding faucet shanks and the water supply valves. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten connections, ensuring they are snug but not overtightened.
  3. Ensure all connections are secure.

5. Operating Instructions

The Zurn Z81101-XL faucet features two lever handles for independent control of hot and cold water flow.

  • To Turn On: Rotate the desired lever handle (left for hot, right for cold) upwards or outwards.
  • To Adjust Flow: Continue rotating the lever handle to increase or decrease water flow.
  • To Adjust Temperature: Mix hot and cold water by adjusting both lever handles simultaneously.
  • To Turn Off: Rotate the lever handle(s) back to the closed (downwards or inwards) position.

After installation, slowly turn on the main water supply. Check for leaks at all connections. If leaks occur, tighten the connections slightly until the leak stops. Remove the aerator and flush the faucet for a few minutes to clear any debris from the lines before reattaching the aerator.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

To maintain the polished chrome finish of your Zurn faucet, clean regularly with a soft cloth and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish.

6.2. Aerator Cleaning

If water flow becomes restricted or uneven, the aerator may be clogged. To clean the aerator:

  1. Unscrew the aerator from the end of the faucet spout.
  2. Disassemble the aerator components and rinse them under running water to remove any debris or mineral deposits. A soft brush can be used for stubborn deposits.
  3. Soak components in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water for 30 minutes if mineral buildup is severe.
  4. Reassemble the aerator and screw it back onto the faucet spout.

6.3. Leak Prevention

Periodically check under the sink for any signs of leaks. Tighten connections as needed. If persistent leaks occur from the handles or spout, it may indicate worn washers or cartridges, which may require replacement by a qualified professional.
