Setup and Cuff Selection

1. Determine Your Arm Circumference

1. Find the Midpoint of Your Upper Arm: Locate the bony part of your shoulder (acromion process) and the bony part of your elbow (olecranon process). Measure the distance between these two points and divide by two to find the midpoint.
2. Measure Your Arm Circumference: At the midpoint you identified, measure the circumference of your arm using a tape measure. Ensure the tape measure is snug but not tight.

If your arm circumference falls outside the range of the included standard cuff (10-14" / 25-36cm), you may need to purchase an additional cuff of the correct size for accurate readings.

3. Proper Cuff Placement

1. Position Your Arm: Sit comfortably with your arm extended, palm facing upwards.
2. Place the Cuff: Wrap the cuff around your upper arm, ensuring the bottom edge of the cuff is approximately two fingers' width above your elbow.
3. Align the Tube: The air tube from the cuff should run down the center of your arm, aligning with your middle finger.
4. Secure the Cuff: Tighten the cuff so it is snug but not overly tight. You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably between the cuff and your arm. If you can fit more than two fingers, it's too loose; if you cannot fit two fingers, it's too tight.

Operating Instructions

3. Inflate the Cuff: Squeeze the latex bulb repeatedly to inflate the cuff. Inflate until the manometer reads approximately 20-30 mmHg above your usual systolic pressure, or until the pulse sound disappears if using a stethoscope (stethoscope not included with this kit).
4. Release Air: Slowly open the air release valve to deflate the cuff at a rate of 2-3 mmHg per second.
5. Read the Manometer:
   • The first distinct pulse sound heard (if using a stethoscope) or the point where the needle first flickers significantly during deflation indicates your systolic pressure.
   • The point where the pulse sound disappears or the needle's significant flickers cease indicates your diastolic pressure.
6. Record Readings: Note down your systolic and diastolic pressure readings.
