1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of your Dabmar Lighting FG132-B Fiberglass Hooded Spot Light. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and retain it for future reference.

The FG132-B is designed for outdoor landscape lighting, featuring a durable fiberglass construction and an adjustable knuckle for precise light direction. It uses a 20W MR-16 halogen bulb and includes a ground spike for easy installation.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Risk of electric shock. Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or in accordance with local electrical codes.

  • Disconnect power at the fuse or circuit breaker before installation or servicing.
  • Ensure all electrical connections are made in accordance with local codes, ordinances, and the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Do not install near flammable materials.
  • Use only 20W MR-16 halogen bulbs. Exceeding the maximum wattage can cause overheating and damage.
  • Fixture surfaces may become hot during operation. Allow to cool before handling.
  • This fixture is designed for outdoor use. While durable, it is not rated as fully water-resistant. Ensure proper drainage and avoid submersion.

4. Setup and Installation

This fixture requires assembly and electrical connection. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Prepare the Installation Area: Choose a location in your outdoor landscape where the light is desired. Ensure the ground is suitable for inserting the ground spike and that electrical wiring can be safely routed.
  2. Assemble the Ground Spike: Attach the ground spike to the base of the light fixture. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  3. Insert into Ground: Firmly push the ground spike into the soil at the desired location. Ensure the fixture is stable and upright.
  4. Electrical Connection:
    • Turn off power at the main circuit breaker before making any electrical connections.
    • Connect the pre-wired direct burial cable from the fixture to your low-voltage landscape lighting system. Use appropriate waterproof connectors (not included) for all connections to prevent moisture ingress.
    • Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
    • Bury the direct burial cable according to local electrical codes and manufacturer recommendations for landscape lighting.
  5. Install Bulb:
    • Carefully remove the tempered glass lens by unscrewing the retaining ring or clips (if applicable).
    • Insert a 20W MR-16 halogen bulb into the GU10 base. Avoid touching the bulb glass with bare hands; use a clean cloth or gloves.
    • Replace the tempered glass lens and secure it firmly to ensure a weather-tight seal.
  6. Adjust Direction: Use the adjustable knuckle to position the light fixture to illuminate the desired area.

5. Operating Instructions

The Dabmar Lighting FG132-B operates as part of a low-voltage landscape lighting system.

  • Power On: Once installation is complete and all connections are secure, restore power at the main circuit breaker.
  • Control: The light is typically controlled by the main switch or timer of your landscape lighting transformer. This fixture itself does not have an integrated switch.
  • Adjusting Light Direction: The adjustable knuckle allows you to pivot the light head to focus illumination on specific plants, pathways, or architectural features. Loosen the knuckle screw slightly, adjust the angle, and then tighten the screw to secure the position.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your spot light.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the fixture and the glass lens with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure power is off before cleaning.
  • Bulb Replacement:
    • Turn off power to the fixture at the circuit breaker.
    • Allow the bulb to cool completely before attempting to replace it.
    • Carefully remove the tempered glass lens.
    • Remove the old 20W MR-16 halogen bulb from the GU10 base.
    • Insert a new 20W MR-16 halogen bulb. Avoid touching the bulb glass with bare hands.
    • Replace the tempered glass lens and secure it firmly.
    • Restore power.
  • Wiring Inspection: Annually inspect the wiring and connections for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Repair or replace as necessary.
