Figure 1: Front panel of the Peavey MAX 126 Bass Amplifier, showing input, equalization controls, and power switch.
- INPUT: This is the 1/4-inch jack where you connect your bass guitar.
- VINTAGE: A selectable gain control that engages Peavey's patented TransTube circuitry for a classic, warm bass tone.
- GAIN: Controls the input level of the amplifier. Adjust this to achieve your desired signal strength and tone.
- TREBLE: Adjusts the high-frequency response of your sound. Turn clockwise for brighter tones, counter-clockwise for warmer tones.
- BASS: Adjusts the low-frequency response of your sound. Turn clockwise for deeper bass, counter-clockwise for less bass.
- AUX/LINE IN: A 3.5mm input jack for connecting external audio devices like MP3 players or smartphones for practice.
- HEADPHONES: A 3.5mm output jack for connecting headphones for silent practice. Plugging in headphones will mute the main speaker.
- POWER: The main power switch for turning the amplifier ON or OFF. An indicator light will illuminate when the unit is powered on.
Setup
- Power Connection: Ensure the amplifier's power switch is in the OFF position. Connect the power cord to a suitable AC outlet.
- Instrument Connection: Using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable, connect your bass guitar to the INPUT jack on the front panel.
- External Audio (Optional): If you wish to play along with music, connect your audio device to the AUX/LINE IN jack using a 3.5mm audio cable.
- Headphones (Optional): For silent practice, connect your headphones to the HEADPHONES jack. This will automatically mute the internal speaker.
