Key Components:

• Flash Head: Rotates and tilts for bounce flash.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

1. Open the battery compartment cover.
2. Insert the required batteries (typically AA-size, refer to the compartment for polarity) ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Mounting the Speedlite to a Camera

1. Ensure both the camera and Speedlite are turned off.
2. Slide the Speedlite's hot shoe mount fully into the camera's hot shoe.
3. Tighten the locking wheel or lever on the Speedlite's hot shoe mount to secure it firmly to the camera.

6. Operating

6.1 Powering On/Off

Locate the power switch (often labeled 'ON/OFF' or 'POWER') on the Speedlite and slide it to the 'ON' position to power on the unit. Slide it to 'OFF' when not in use to conserve battery life.

6.2 Mode Selection

The Speedlite 300TL typically offers several flash modes. Use the 'MODE' button or dial on the control panel (refer to Figure 4.2) to cycle through or select the desired mode:

• TTL (Through-The-Lens): The camera automatically determines the flash output for correct exposure.
• Manual (M): Allows you to manually set the flash output power (e.g., Full, 1/2, 1/4 power).
• FEL (Flash Exposure Lock): Locks the flash exposure for a specific part of the scene.

6.3 Zoom Head Adjustment
