Maintenance
Cleaning the Camera
- Camera Body: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe dust and smudges. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water.
- Lens: Use a lens blower brush to remove dust. For smudges, use a lens cleaning solution and a microfiber cloth. Avoid touching the lens surface directly.
- Sensor: Canon recommends professional sensor cleaning. Avoid attempting to clean the sensor yourself unless you are experienced.
- LCD Screen: Use a soft, dry cloth. For fingerprints, use a screen cleaner designed for electronics.
Battery Care
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place.
- Avoid fully discharging batteries frequently.
- Remove the battery from the camera when not in use for extended periods.
Storage
When storing the camera for long periods, remove the battery and memory card. Store the camera in a dry, well-ventilated area, preferably in a camera bag with desiccant to prevent mold and mildew.
Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter. For more detailed troubleshooting, refer to the full instruction manual or Canon's support website.
- Camera does not turn on: Ensure the battery is charged and correctly inserted. Check if the battery contacts are clean.
- Cannot take pictures: Check if a memory card is inserted and has sufficient space. Ensure the lens is properly attached and the lens cap is removed.
- Images are blurry: Verify that the lens is in autofocus (AF) mode or manually focused correctly. Check shutter speed to avoid camera shake, especially in low light.
- Flash does not fire: Ensure the flash is enabled and not in a mode that disables it (e.g., Silent mode). Check battery level.
- Error message on screen: Note the error code and consult the full instruction manual or Canon support for specific solutions. Often, turning the camera off and on again can resolve minor glitches.
