3. Product Components and Overview
Your Reber Electric Tomato Strainer consists of several key parts designed for efficient operation. Familiarize yourself with these components before assembly.

Figure 3.1: Main components of the Reber Electric Tomato Strainer.
Key Components:
- Hopper: The top funnel where ingredients are fed into the machine.
- Trough Brace: Provides support and stability for the straining mechanism.
- Cone & Filter: The perforated stainless steel cone that separates pulp from juice.
- Trough: Collects the strained liquid (sauce, juice).
- Motor Unit: The electrical base that powers the auger.
- Auger (internal): A screw-like mechanism inside the cone that presses ingredients.
- Splash Guard: Prevents splashing during operation.
4. Setup and Assembly
Before first use, clean all parts that will come into contact with food. Ensure the appliance is unplugged during assembly.
- Prepare the Motor Unit: Place the motor unit on a stable, flat, and dry surface.
- Attach the Body: Securely attach the main body (which houses the auger and filter cone) to the motor unit. Ensure it is firmly seated and locked into place according to the manufacturer's design (some models may use retaining nuts or screws, ensure these are tightened).
- Insert the Auger: Carefully insert the acetal resin auger into the body, ensuring it aligns with the motor's drive shaft.
- Place the Filter Cone: Slide the stainless steel filter cone over the auger and into the body.
- Attach Hopper and Splash Guard: Position the stainless steel hopper on top of the body. Attach the splash guard to the outlet of the filter cone, ensuring it directs the pulp away from the strained liquid.
- Position Trough: Place the collection trough under the filter cone's liquid outlet.
- Final Check: Verify all parts are correctly assembled and securely fastened before plugging in the appliance.

5. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your tomato strainer:
- Preparation of Ingredients:
- Wash fresh tomatoes thoroughly.
- Cut tomatoes into pieces small enough to fit into the hopper opening. For best results, remove any hard cores or blemishes.
- For other fruits (e.g., apples for jam, oranges for juice), prepare them similarly by washing and cutting into appropriate sizes.
- Position Collection Containers: Place a large bowl or container under the trough to collect the strained liquid (sauce/juice). Ensure another container is positioned to collect the expelled pulp from the splash guard outlet.
- Power On: Plug the appliance into a suitable electrical outlet. Turn on the machine using the power switch located on the motor unit.
- Feed Ingredients: Slowly feed the prepared ingredients into the hopper. Do not overload the hopper. Use the provided food pusher (if applicable) to gently guide ingredients towards the auger. Never use your hands or fingers.
- Processing: The auger will crush and press the ingredients, separating the liquid from the solids. The strained liquid will exit through the trough, and the pulp (skins, seeds) will be expelled from the end of the filter cone.
- Continuous Use: The 450W induction motor is designed for continuous use, allowing you to process large batches efficiently. Monitor the pulp outlet to ensure it does not become clogged.
- Completion: Once all ingredients are processed, turn off the machine and unplug it from the power outlet.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Reber Electric Tomato Strainer.
- Disassembly: Always unplug the appliance before disassembling. Carefully remove the hopper, splash guard, trough, filter cone, and auger.
- Cleaning Components:
- The stainless steel filter cone, hopper, drip tray, and splash guard can be washed with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately to prevent water spots or corrosion.
- The acetal resin auger should also be washed with warm, soapy water and rinsed.
- Note: While some individual components may be dishwasher safe, the entire assembled unit is not. Hand washing is recommended for all food-contact parts to ensure thorough cleaning and preserve material integrity.
- Use a small brush (e.g., a bottle brush) to clean the perforations of the filter cone, ensuring all pulp and seeds are removed.
- Cleaning the Motor Unit: Wipe the motor unit with a damp cloth. Never immerse the motor unit in water or any other liquid.
- Drying and Storage: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling or storing. Store the appliance in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Lubrication: The "Long Life" oil-bath gearbox is maintenance-free and does not require additional lubrication.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Reber Electric Tomato Strainer, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Appliance does not turn on. | Not plugged in; power switch off; power outage; faulty outlet. | Check power cord connection; ensure switch is ON; check circuit breaker; try a different outlet. |
| Poor straining or excessive pulp in liquid. | Filter cone clogged; ingredients not properly prepared; auger not installed correctly. | Turn off and unplug, then clean the filter cone thoroughly. Ensure tomatoes are cut into appropriate sizes. Reassemble auger correctly. |
| Machine is unusually noisy or vibrating. | Improper assembly of components; loose parts; foreign object. | Turn off and unplug. Disassemble and reassemble all parts, ensuring they are securely fastened. Check for any obstructions. |
| Motor stops during operation. | Overload protection activated; motor overheating. | Turn off and unplug. Allow the motor to cool down for at least 30 minutes. Reduce the amount of ingredients fed at one time. Ensure proper ventilation around the motor. |
| Pulp outlet is blocked. | Accumulation of dense pulp or seeds. | Turn off and unplug. Carefully clear the blockage from the pulp outlet using a non-sharp utensil. |
