Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your Dixie EMS kit.

Cleaning:

  • Wipe down the cuff and stethoscope tubing with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water.
  • Do not immerse the manometer or inflation bulb in water.
  • Allow all components to air dry completely before storing.

Calibration:

Regular calibration is essential for maintaining accuracy.

  1. Use the release valve to deflate the cuff and see if the manometer returns to 0.
  2. If the manometer doesn't return to 0, use the included calibration key to adjust.

  • Difficulty Hearing Pulse: Ensure the stethoscope head is firmly placed on the brachial artery. Check that the eartubes are correctly oriented and the diaphragm/bell is open.
  • Cuff Not Inflating: Ensure the air release valve is fully closed. Check for any punctures or damage to the inflation bulb or cuff.
