Setup

Placement

Place the amplifier on a stable, level surface. Ensure there is sufficient space around the unit (at least 10 cm on top and sides, 5 cm at the rear) for proper heat dissipation and ventilation. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near heat sources.

Speaker Connection

Connect your speakers to the SPEAKER SYSTEMS terminals on the rear panel. The PMA-390RE-SP supports two pairs of speakers (A and B).

  1. Ensure the amplifier is turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.
  2. Connect the positive (+) terminal of your speaker to the red (+) terminal on the amplifier, and the negative (-) terminal of your speaker to the black (-) terminal on the amplifier.
  3. If using only one pair of speakers, connect them to either the A or B terminals. The speaker impedance should be between 4 and 16 ohms.
  4. If using two pairs of speakers (A and B simultaneously), the impedance for each pair must be between 8 and 16 ohms.
  5. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent short circuits.

Audio Source Connection

Connect your audio components (CD player, tuner, network player, turntable, etc.) to the corresponding input jacks on the rear panel using RCA audio cables.

  • CD Player: Connect to the 'CD' input terminals.
  • Tuner: Connect to the 'TUNER' input terminals.
  • Network Player/Other Analog Source: Connect to the 'NETWORK' or 'AUX' input terminals.
  • Turntable: Connect to the 'PHONO' input terminals. If your turntable has a ground wire, connect it to the 'SIGNAL GND' terminal on the amplifier.
  • Recording Device: Connect the input of your recording device to the 'RECORDER REC' terminals and the output of your recording device to the 'RECORDER PB' terminals.
  • External Power Amplifier/Subwoofer: Connect to the 'PRE OUT' terminals.

Power Connection

After all audio and speaker connections are made, plug the amplifier's power cord into a wall outlet. You can also use the switched AC OUTLETS on the rear panel to power other audio components, ensuring their total power consumption does not exceed 100W/1.0A.

Operation

Turning On/Off

Press the Power button on the front panel or the AMP POWER button on the remote control to turn the amplifier on or off.

Selecting an Input Source

Rotate the Input Selector knob on the front panel or press the corresponding input button (e.g., CD, PHONO) on the remote control to select the desired audio source.

Adjusting the Volume

Turn the large Volume knob on the front panel clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Alternatively, use the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons on the remote control.

Tone Controls (Bass, Treble, Balance)

Use the Bass and Treble knobs to fine-tune the low and high frequencies of the audio. The Balance knob adjusts the relative volume between the left and right channels.

Loudness Function

Press the Loudness button on the front panel to activate or deactivate the loudness compensation. This function enhances bass and treble at low volume levels to maintain a full sound.

Source Direct Mode

Press the Source Direct button on the front panel or remote control to bypass the tone control and loudness circuits. This provides a purer, uncolored audio signal, ideal for high-fidelity listening.

Headphone Use

Connect your headphones to the Phones jack on the front panel. When headphones are connected, the speaker output will be muted.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your amplifier.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
