1. Introduction

The GermGuardian AC5250PT is a 5-in-1 air purifying system designed to enhance indoor air quality. It features a True HEPA filter to capture allergens, a Pet Pure filter with antimicrobial treatment, an activated carbon filter for odor reduction, and UV-C light technology to reduce airborne germs. This unit is suitable for medium to large rooms, providing multiple fan speeds and a programmable timer for customized operation.

2. Safety Instructions

• Always unplug the air purifier before moving, cleaning, or replacing filters.
• Do not operate the unit with a damaged cord or plug.
• Keep the power cord away from heated surfaces.
• Do not use the air purifier in wet or damp environments.
• Ensure all air vents are clear and unobstructed during operation.
• This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

4. Setup

Unpacking:

1. Carefully remove the air purifier from its packaging.
2. Remove all plastic bags and protective materials.

Filter Installation:

1. Locate the rear cover of the air purifier.
2. Press the latch to open and remove the rear cover.
3. Remove the combination filter (HEPA + Activated Carbon) from its protective plastic packaging.
4. Insert the filter into the unit, ensuring it is seated correctly. The pre-filter side (black foam) should face outwards.
5. Replace the rear cover, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

Placement:

Place the air purifier on a firm, level surface. For optimal performance, position the unit in a location where air can circulate freely around it, away from walls or furniture that might obstruct airflow.

5. Operating Instructions

Power On/Off:

Press the Power button on the control panel to turn the unit on or off.

Adjusting Fan Speed:

Press the 'Mode' button repeatedly to cycle through the 5 available fan speeds. The selected speed will be indicated on the digital display.

UV-C Function:

Press the 'UV' button to activate or deactivate the UV-C light. The UV-C light helps reduce airborne germs and bacteria.

Timer Function:

Press the 'Timer' button to set the desired operating time (up to 8 hours). The unit will automatically turn off once the set time has elapsed.

6. Maintenance

Filter Replacement:

The filter change indicator light will illuminate when it's time to replace the filter, typically every 6-8 months, depending on usage and air quality.

1. Unplug the air purifier.
2. Remove the rear cover by pressing the latch.
3. Carefully remove the old combination filter.
4. Insert a new GermGuardian Type C filter (FLT5000, FLT5250PT, FLT5000SM, or FLT5000VO) into the unit.
5. Replace the rear cover.
6. Plug in the unit. To reset the filter indicator, press and hold the HEPA/UV Reset button for 5 seconds until the light turns off.

Cleaning:

Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7. Troubleshooting

• Unit not turning on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check if the filter cover is properly closed.
• Reduced airflow: Check if the filter is dirty and needs replacement. Ensure air intake and output vents are not blocked.
• Unusual noise: Verify that the unit is on a stable, flat surface. Check for any foreign objects obstructing the fan or filter.
• Filter change indicator remains on after replacement: Press and hold the HEPA/UV Reset button for 5 seconds to reset the indicator.
