Setup

1. Battery Installation

The Uniden EZI-33 XLT requires 3 AA batteries.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the scanner.
  2. Slide the cover downwards and lift it off.
  3. Insert 3 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and slide it upwards until it clicks into place.

2. Antenna Attachment

The scanner comes with a detachable rubber duck antenna.

  1. Screw the antenna clockwise onto the BNC connector located at the top of the scanner until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

3. Initial Power On

Press and hold the Pwr button to turn on the scanner. The display will illuminate.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off

To turn the scanner on, press and hold the Pwr button. To turn it off, press and hold the Pwr button again.

Volume and Squelch Adjustment

The Vol/Sq knob controls both volume and squelch.

  • Rotate the Vol/Sq knob clockwise to increase volume.
  • Rotate the Vol/Sq knob counter-clockwise to decrease volume.
  • To adjust squelch, press the Vol/Sq knob once. The display will show "SQL". Rotate the knob to set the squelch level. A higher squelch level filters out weaker signals and static. Press the knob again to exit squelch adjustment.

Scanning Service Banks

The EZI-33 XLT has 9 pre-programmed service banks for common frequencies.

  1. Press the Srvc button.
  2. Use the (up) or (down) arrow buttons to select the desired service bank (e.g., Air, Marine, CB, etc.).
  3. Press Srvc again to start scanning the selected bank.

Manual Channel Selection

To directly enter a frequency:

  1. Enter the desired frequency using the number buttons (0-9).
  2. Press the Hold button to listen to that frequency.

Storing Frequencies

To store a frequency into a memory location:

  1. Tune to the desired frequency.
  2. Press the Store button.
  3. Use the number buttons to select a memory location (1-180).
  4. Press Store again to confirm.

Lockout Function

To temporarily skip an unwanted frequency during scanning:

  1. While the scanner is stopped on the frequency you wish to lockout, press the L/O button. The frequency will be locked out from future scans.
  2. To unlock, manually tune to the locked-out frequency and press L/O again.

Display Backlight

Press the Light button to turn the display backlight on or off.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the scanner, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the unit's finish or internal components.

Battery Care

  • Remove batteries if the scanner will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Use only the specified type of batteries (AA alkaline).
  • Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.

Storage

Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
