2. Safety Information

  • Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below 0°C / 32°F) or sudden temperature changes.
  • Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields, as they can affect the accuracy of the quartz movement.
  • Do not expose the watch to harsh chemicals, solvents, or detergents, which can damage the case, strap, or seals.
  • Ensure the crown is pushed in completely to maintain water resistance. Do not operate pushers or the crown while the watch is wet or submerged.

4. Setup

4.1 Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown out to the furthest position (position 2). The second hand will stop.
  2. Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure AM/PM is correctly set if your watch has a 24-hour indicator.
  3. Push the crown back into its normal position (position 0). The second hand will resume movement.

4.2 Setting the Date

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click position (position 1).
  2. Rotate the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
  3. Push the crown back into its normal position (position 0).

4.3 Chronograph Hand Alignment

If the chronograph hands do not reset to the 12 o'clock (zero) position, follow these steps:

  1. Pull the crown out to the furthest position (position 2).
  2. Press Pusher A to advance the 1/20th second chronograph hand.
  3. Press Pusher B to advance the chronograph minute hand.
  4. Adjust each hand until it points directly to the 12 o'clock (zero) mark.
  5. Once aligned, push the crown back into its normal position (position 0).

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Using the Fly-Back Chronograph

The chronograph measures elapsed time up to 4 hours.

  1. Start: Press Pusher A to start the chronograph. The chronograph second hand, minute hand, and 1/20th second hand will begin moving.
  2. Stop: Press Pusher A again to stop the chronograph. Read the elapsed time from the sub-dials.
  3. Fly-Back Reset: While the chronograph is running, press Pusher B. The chronograph hands will instantly reset to zero and immediately restart timing from zero. This allows for quick consecutive timing without stopping and restarting.
  4. Standard Reset: If the chronograph is stopped, press Pusher B to reset all chronograph hands to the 12 o'clock (zero) position.

5.2 Indiglo Night-Light

Your Timex watch features the Indiglo night-light, which illuminates the entire dial for easy reading in low-light conditions.

  • To activate, simply press and hold the crown (in position 0). The dial will illuminate with a blue-green glow.
  • Release the crown to turn off the light.

5.3 Setting and Reading the Second Time Zone (24-Hour Sub-dial)

The sub-dial at the 10 o'clock position displays a second time zone in a 24-hour format.

  1. Pull the crown out to the furthest position (position 2).
  2. Press Pusher A repeatedly to advance the 24-hour hand on the sub-dial to the desired second time zone.
  3. Once set, push the crown back into its normal position (position 0). The 24-hour sub-dial will now continuously display the second time zone.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch:

  • Wipe the case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture. If it gets wet, allow it to air dry naturally.
  • For the case, a slightly damp cloth with mild soap can be used, but ensure the crown is fully pushed in and dry the watch thoroughly afterward.

6.2 Water Resistance

Your watch is water resistant to 10 ATM (100 meters). This means it is suitable for showering, swimming, and snorkeling. It is not suitable for scuba diving or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in to maintain water resistance. Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is submerged or wet.

6.3 Battery Replacement

The watch is powered by one CR2 battery. When the battery is depleted, the watch will stop running. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Watch not running: Check if the crown is pushed in. If it is, the battery may need replacement.
  • Chronograph hands not resetting to zero: Refer to section 4.3 for chronograph hand alignment instructions.
  • Date not changing: Ensure the time is set correctly for AM/PM. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM.
  • Moisture inside the watch: This indicates a breach in water resistance. Seek professional service immediately to prevent further damage.
