Introduction

The Roland TD-15 Drum Sound Module is the central component of your V-Drums electronic drum kit, designed to deliver expressive and dynamic drum sounds. Featuring Roland's SuperNATURAL sound engine, this module provides a wide range of high-quality drum and percussion sounds, along with various functions for practice, performance, and recording.

Setup

1. Unpacking and Placement

Carefully remove the TD-15 module from its packaging. Place it on a stable, flat surface or attach it to a drum rack using the provided mounting plate and wing bolts. Ensure adequate ventilation around the module.

2. Power Connection

Connect the supplied AC adaptor to the DC IN jack on the rear of the TD-15 module. Plug the other end of the adaptor into a standard AC outlet. Use only the specified Roland PSB-1U adaptor.

3. Connecting Drum Pads and Triggers

Connect your V-Drums pads and triggers to the TD-15 module using the proprietary special connection cable (snake cable). Each input is labeled for specific pads (e.g., Snare, Kick, Tom1, Cymbal).

4. Audio Output Connections

• L/MONO, R OUTPUT: Connect these jacks to your amplifier, powered monitor speakers, or mixing console. Use the L/MONO jack for mono output.
• PHONES: Connect stereo headphones to this jack for private monitoring. Adjust the VOLUME knob next to the PHONES jack.
• MIX IN: Connect an external audio player (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to this jack to play along with your favorite music.

5. USB Connectivity

• COMPUTER (USB Type B): Connect this port to your computer using a USB cable for MIDI and audio data transfer. This allows you to use the TD-15 as an audio interface or MIDI controller with your DAW.
• MEMORY (USB Type A): Insert a USB flash drive into this port to import/export user kits, songs, and system settings, or to play back audio files.

Operating the TD-15 Module

Basic Functions

• Power Button (●): Press to turn the module on or off.
• Volume Knob: Adjusts the overall output volume.
• DRUM KIT Buttons (◀ ▶): Use these buttons to navigate through the available drum kits.
• MENU Button: Accesses the main menu for detailed settings and functions.
• EXIT Button: Returns to the previous screen or the main display.
• Cursor Buttons (▲ ▼ ◀ ▶): Used for navigating menus and adjusting parameters.
• Dial: Rotates to quickly change values or select items in menus. Press to confirm selection.

Advanced Functions

• QUICK EDIT: Allows for quick adjustments to drum sounds within the current kit.
• TUNING, MUFFLING, STRAINER: Dedicated buttons for adjusting specific drum parameters.
• QUICK REC: Initiates quick recording of your performance.
• COACH: Accesses various practice exercises and rhythm training tools.
• SONG: Manages and plays back built-in or user-loaded songs.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the TD-15 module, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth may be used, followed by a dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents, as these can damage the finish and internal components.

Storage and Handling

Store the module in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. Avoid dropping the unit or subjecting it to strong impacts. When transporting, ensure the module is securely packed to prevent damage.
