HIQUEL TM16+ Time Delay Relay User Manual

Comprehensive guide for installation, operation, and maintenance of your TM16+ Time Delay Relay.

1. Product Overview

The HIQUEL TM16+ is a versatile time delay relay designed for industrial and scientific applications. It features 8 distinct time functions and a single changeover contact (SPCO). This device supports a wide range of input voltages, including 115-230VAC and 24VADC, making it suitable for various control circuits. Its compact design allows for easy integration into control panels.

Figure 1: HIQUEL TM16+ Time Delay Relay
This image displays the front panel of the Hiquel TM16+ Time Delay Relay. Visible elements include the model designation 'TM16+', input voltage range '115-230Vac / 24Vac/dc', and two rotary dials. The upper dial is labeled 'Func.' for function selection, and the lower dial is labeled 'Time' for setting the delay duration. Below the time dial, indicators for 'x10', 'x1', 'sec', 'min', and 'hrs' are present, along with a 'Multi-Function' label. Terminal screw connections are visible at the top (A1, 15, B1) and bottom (16, 18, A2) of the unit.

2. Setup and Installation

Before installation, ensure the power supply is disconnected to prevent electrical shock. The TM16+ relay is designed for DIN rail mounting.

2.1 Mounting

  1. Locate a suitable DIN rail within your control panel.
  2. Align the relay's mounting clip with the DIN rail.
  3. Press firmly until the relay clicks securely into place.

2.2 Wiring

Refer to the wiring diagram provided with the product for specific connection details. General connections are as follows:

  • Power Supply (U): Connect the appropriate voltage (115-230VAC or 24VADC) to terminals A1 and A2. Ensure the voltage matches the relay's specifications.
  • Control Input (B1): This terminal may be used for specific control functions depending on the selected operating mode. Consult the function table for details.
  • Output Contacts (15, 16, 18):
    • Terminal 15: Common (COM)
    • Terminal 16: Normally Closed (NC)
    • Terminal 18: Normally Open (NO)
Connect your load circuit to the appropriate output terminals based on your application requirements.

Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.

3. Operating Instructions

The TM16+ relay offers 8 time functions and adjustable time ranges.

3.1 Function Selection (Func. Dial)

Rotate the upper dial, labeled 'Func.', to select one of the 8 available time functions. Each position corresponds to a specific operating mode (e.g., ON-delay, OFF-delay, single shot, etc.). Refer to the detailed function table in the product's supplementary documentation for a description of each function.

3.2 Time Range and Duration Setting (Time Dial)

The lower dial, labeled 'Time', is used to set the desired time delay duration. This dial works in conjunction with the time multiplier and unit indicators.

  • Time Multiplier: The 'x10' and 'x1' indicators, along with the dial's numerical scale (e.g., 0.1 to 10), determine the base value.
  • Time Unit: Select the desired time unit using the small switches or indicators next to 'sec' (seconds), 'min' (minutes), or 'hrs' (hours).

Example: To set a 5-minute delay, you might set the 'Time' dial to '5' and select 'min' as the unit. If the dial range is 0.1-10 and you need 50 minutes, you would set the dial to '5' and select the 'x10' multiplier and 'min' unit.

The green LED indicator on the front panel typically indicates power status, while the red LED indicates the relay output status.

4. Maintenance

The HIQUEL TM16+ time delay relay is designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation. However, periodic inspection can help ensure optimal performance.

  • Cleaning: If necessary, gently wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and ensure there are no signs of corrosion or damage.
  • Environment: Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent premature failure.

Do not attempt to open or repair the unit yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your TM16+ relay, consult the following table:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No power indication (Green LED off)No power supply to A1/A2; Incorrect voltage; Loose connections.Check power source; Verify voltage matches specifications; Tighten wiring connections.
Relay not switching (Red LED off/on incorrectly)Incorrect function selected; Time setting too short/long; Load issue; Faulty unit.Verify selected function; Adjust time setting; Check load circuit for faults; Contact support if problem persists.
Inconsistent timingUnstable power supply; Environmental factors (temperature fluctuations).Ensure stable power supply; Verify operating environment is within specified limits.

If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, contact HIQUEL technical support.
