Carefully remove the engine from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Report any damage to your dealer immediately.

4.2 Mounting the Engine

Ensure the engine is securely mounted to a stable, level surface or equipment frame using appropriate hardware. Refer to your equipment's manual for specific mounting instructions.

4.3 Adding Engine Oil

The engine is shipped without oil. Before first use, fill the crankcase with the recommended type and amount of oil.

  1. Place the engine on a level surface.
  2. Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
  3. Slowly add the recommended oil (typically SAE 30 or 10W-30 for general use) to the oil fill opening until the oil level reaches the "FULL" mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
  4. Replace the oil fill cap/dipstick securely.

4.4 Adding Fuel

Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use E85 fuel or gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol.

  1. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
  2. Remove the fuel tank cap.
  3. Fill the fuel tank slowly, leaving some space for fuel expansion. Do not overfill.
  4. Replace the fuel tank cap securely.

5. Operating Instructions

  2. Move the choke lever to the "FULL CHOKE" position (for cold starts).
  3. Move the throttle lever to the "FAST" position.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your Briggs & Stratton engine. Always refer to the maintenance schedule in your full engine manual for detailed intervals.

6.1 Engine Oil Change

Change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.

  2. Place a suitable container under the oil drain plug.
  3. Remove the oil drain plug and oil fill cap/dipstick to allow oil to drain completely.
