Carefully remove the engine from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Report any damage to your dealer immediately.
4.2 Mounting the Engine
Ensure the engine is securely mounted to a stable, level surface or equipment frame using appropriate hardware. Refer to your equipment's manual for specific mounting instructions.
4.3 Adding Engine Oil
The engine is shipped without oil. Before first use, fill the crankcase with the recommended type and amount of oil.
- Place the engine on a level surface.
- Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Engine
- Ensure the fuel valve (if equipped) is in the "ON" position.
- Move the choke lever to the "FULL CHOKE" position (for cold starts).
- Move the throttle lever to the "FAST" position.
- Grasp the starter rope handle firmly and pull slowly until resistance is felt, then pull rapidly to start the engine.
- Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "OFF" position as the engine warms up.
5.2 Stopping the Engine
To stop the engine, move the throttle lever to the "STOP" or "OFF" position. If the engine does not stop, turn off the fuel supply (if equipped) and allow the engine to run out of fuel.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your Briggs & Stratton engine. Always refer to the maintenance schedule in your full engine manual for detailed intervals.
