1. Product Overview
Orenda PR-10,000 is a highly concentrated rare-earth phosphate remover. It is formulated to react with phosphates in the water, allowing them to be removed from solution. It reacts with all known types of phosphates on contact and hardens them into a fine precipitate, which falls out of solution. The inert phosphates then floc out, to be vacuumed or filtered out of the pool.
Key Features:
- Highly concentrated, removes phosphates on contact.
- Causes cloudiness indicating performance, which can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
- Requires circulation or filtration for reaction upon addition.
- NSF/ANSI-50 Certified for Professional Use.
2. Safety Information
CAUTION: EYE AND SKIN IRRITANT. Contains lanthanum chloride (LaCl₃). Hydrate. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wear eye protection (safety glasses with side shields or goggles) and rubber gloves. Do not mix with other chemicals. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
First Aid:
- IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.
- IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of water. If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention. Take off contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse.
- IN CASE OF INGESTION: Rinse mouth. Do not induce vomiting. Call a poison control center immediately.
Review the product MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) before using for complete safety information.
3. Directions for Use
Apply PR-10,000 evenly around the perimeter of the pool. Use the reference chart below for dosing. Do not exceed 8 fl.oz. per 10,000 gallons per treatment unless otherwise specified. If phosphates are present, clouding will occur and can last many hours. Precipitation is normal and can be filtered or vacuumed.
- Test your pool water to determine the current ortho-phosphate level.
- Determine the appropriate dose using the dosing chart below.
- Shake bottle well prior to application.
- With the circulation pump running, add the determined dose to the skimmer.
- Run the filter for 48 hours continuously without backwashing or cleaning.
- After 48 hours of filtering, clean/backwash the filter.
- Retest phosphate levels, and if necessary, repeat steps 1-5.
Important: Algae must be treated prior to testing and lowering phosphates. Chlorine must be under 5 ppm before testing phosphates.
4. Dosing Chart (per 10,000 gallons of water)
| Ortho-phosphate level | Ounces to add |
|---|---|
| 0-500ppb | 2 ounces |
| 500-1000ppb | 4 ounces |
| 1000ppb-2000ppb | 8 ounces |
| 2000ppb+ | 10 ounces plus |
Note: Do not add more than 8 ounces per 10,000 gallons of water at a time.
5. Handling & Storage
- PR-10,000 is inherently stable with an indefinite shelf life under normal conditions of storage less than 120°F.
- Prevent freezing to avoid container damage and loss of product.
- Though PR-10,000 is non- and non-hazardous, gloves and eye protection are recommended during handling.

9. Troubleshooting
- Cloudy Water After Application: This is a normal indication that PR-10,000 is reacting with phosphates. The cloudiness will clear as the phosphates precipitate and are removed by the filter. Ensure continuous filtration.
- Persistent High Phosphate Levels: Ensure your chlorine level is above 5 ppm before testing phosphates. If levels remain high after initial treatment and filtering, re-evaluate your pool's phosphate concentration and apply additional doses as per the dosing chart, not exceeding 8 fl.oz. per 10,000 gallons at a time.
- Filter Pressure Increase: If filter pressure rises significantly, it indicates the filter is collecting precipitated phosphates. Backwash or clean your filter as needed to maintain optimal filtration.
