Setup
1. Unpacking and Initial Check
Verify that all components are present in the package:
- Olympus SH-25MR Digital Camera
- Lithium-Ion Battery
- USB Cable
- Strap
- Instruction Manual (this document)
2. Battery Installation and Charging
- Open the battery cover located on the bottom of the camera.
- Insert the supplied Lithium-Ion battery, ensuring correct orientation as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery cover securely.
- Connect the camera to a power source using the USB cable for charging. The charging indicator will illuminate.
3. Memory Card Insertion
The camera supports SDHC and SDXC memory cards.
- Open the memory card slot cover, usually located near the battery compartment.
- Insert the memory card with the label facing the front of the camera until it clicks into place.
- Close the memory card slot cover.
4. Initial Power On and Settings
- Press the ON/OFF button located on the top of the camera.
- Upon first use, the camera will prompt you to set the date, time, and language. Follow the on-screen instructions using the navigation buttons and OK button.

Operating the Camera
1. Basic Photography
The SH-25MR features a 16.8-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and 12.5x optical zoom.
- Power On: Press the ON/OFF button. The lens will extend.
- Shooting Modes: Rotate the mode dial on the top of the camera to select your desired shooting mode (e.g., i-AUTO for automatic settings, SCN for scene modes).
- Zoom: Use the zoom lever around the shutter button to adjust the 12.5x optical zoom (4.2-52.5mm focal length). Digital zoom up to 4x is also available.
- Focus: The camera uses Contrast Detection Autofocus. Half-press the shutter button to focus.
- Flash: The built-in flash can be activated or set to auto mode via the camera menu.
- Image Stabilization: The camera features both Digital and Optical Image Stabilization to reduce blur.
- Taking a Photo: Fully press the shutter button to capture the image.

2. Video Recording
The SH-25MR can record Full HD 1080p video at 30 frames per second in MP4 format.
- To start recording, press the dedicated Movie Record button, typically marked with a red dot, on the back of the camera.
- Press the button again to stop recording.
3. GPS Functionality
The camera includes a built-in GPS receiver to geotag your photos with location data.
- Activating GPS: Enable the GPS function through the camera's menu.
- Acquiring Signal: For best results, ensure the camera has a clear view of the sky when acquiring a GPS signal. This may take a few moments.
- Geotagging: Once a signal is acquired, location information will be embedded into the metadata of your photos.
4. Reviewing Images and Videos
- Press the Playback button (often marked with a play icon) to enter playback mode.
- Use the navigation buttons to scroll through your captured images and videos on the 3-inch LCD screen.
- Press the OK button to view details or play videos.

5. Connecting to a Computer
To transfer photos and videos:
- Ensure the camera is powered off.
- Connect the camera to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
- Power on the camera. It should appear as a removable drive on your computer, allowing you to access and transfer files.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
- Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a lens brush to gently remove dust. For smudges, use a specialized lens cleaning solution.
- LCD Screen: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Camera Body: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe away dust and dirt. Do not use solvents.
2. Storage
- When not in use for extended periods, remove the battery from the camera.
- Store the camera in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Use a camera bag or case to protect it from dust and physical damage.
Troubleshooting
